Police: Woman carried fake bomb into airport
BOSTON - A woman who walked into Logan International Airport allegedly wearing a fake bomb strapped to chest was arrested at gunpoint Friday, officials said.
Star Simpson, 19, had a computer circuit board, wiring and a putty that later turned out to be Play-Doh in plain view over a black hooded sweatshirt she was wearing, said State Police Maj. Scott Pare, the commanding officer at the airport.
After a Massachusetts Port Authority official notified State Police about 8 a.m., troopers tracked Simpson down outside Terminal C, where they arrested her and later determined the device was a fake.
Saltheart 09-21-2007, 10:28 AM What the hey!!! I got to hear her reasons for doing that!!
She is lucky she didn't get one to the head with no questions asked. I'm very bend over backwards that nobody should get hurt if possible but a lady with a lebonon style bomb strapped to her chest could kill hundreds in the second it takes to hit a button. No problem at all with shooting her on site with that bomb on her chest.
that's the stupidest thing i ever heard. i mean the darwin award stuff is usually pretty good but this one wins the all time prize.
she is lucky to be alive.
idiot.

....in one easy lesson
by Star Simpson
should be the Name of her new book...
the motive for this .... I just can't wait ....to hear the "why"
fishbones 09-21-2007, 10:57 AM MIT student, huh. Must not have been smart enough to get into BU. Those MIT kids should not be allowed to go out in public for fear of them hurting themselves. They should be kept indoors just like cats that cannot survive in the wild.
fishsmith 09-21-2007, 10:59 AM I hope her 15minutes of fame gives her lots of time behind bars. What a douche bag.
Gloucester2 09-21-2007, 12:26 PM She claims it was "art" and done to attract attention at a job fair she planned to attend . . . I'd hire her :hs:
The kicker for the PoPo had to be the PlayDoh in her hands :af:
nightfighter 09-21-2007, 12:32 PM Feds would have had her in a body bag. And rightfully so. But, nooooooo, MassPort controls airport access.......
BigFish 09-21-2007, 01:00 PM Now she can focus on "License Plate Art"! Douche bag works!:smash:
fishbones 09-21-2007, 01:01 PM Feds would have had her in a body bag. And rightfully so. But, nooooooo, MassPort controls airport access.......
Are you saying that there's something wrong with having our airport protected by kids who take the job for $9.00/hour because they don't have a car or license and can get there on the "T"?
JohnR 09-21-2007, 01:58 PM I hope she spends some time making little rocks out of big rocks
Saltheart 09-21-2007, 02:10 PM now that she lived through it , i don't think she needs jail time. she needs to go to the nut house to be "observed " for a while. This is serious nutcase stuff.
goosefish 09-21-2007, 02:18 PM People who are super math smart scare me. Look at Ted Kaz., didn't he have some I.Q. which was off the charts.
I can't add or subtract any numeral over 10.
Saltheart 09-21-2007, 02:24 PM OK , I just saw the "fake bomb" vest. Its really just a IC socket board attached to her sweatshirt and on the back it says "socket to me" and "course VI" which I am assuming course 6 is computer science or something at MIT.
OK , still not good judgement and she's lucky to be alive but its not little bricks of playdough with wires running from the board into bricks.
After having seen it , i still think she must come from mars not to think it was out of line but its not actually a fake bomb vest like I originally envisioned.
Gloucester2 09-21-2007, 03:16 PM She had the Play Doh in her hands :hs:
BigFish 09-21-2007, 04:02 PM Seen her on the news just now...does not appear phased in the least! Obviously did not learn anything from this.....they should have just blown her stupid, freakin' head off!!!:rocketem::rocketem::rocketem:

EarnedStripes44 09-25-2007, 12:27 PM Yea, she was a little arrogant about the whole thing, wearing the sarcastic smirk in front of new cameras. I understand this may be her path out of obscurity, but hardly a path I would recommend. Political statements don't hold much weight against mp5 slugs, unless your some sort of martyr. She was way to cooperative for the latter, those types usually don't make it to MIT. She better tone that arrogance down before they send her a** to the can.
wheresmy50 09-25-2007, 05:02 PM It's a good thing Massachusetts has disarmed it's citizens. Someone might have shot that girl.
What if the trooper had just shot her dead? Then he/she has to live with that, plus the civil suit for the rest of their lives. Some people just need a punch in the mouth.
I say make her eat the "bomb" 1 piece at a time. The whole thing, play do and all.

.
It's not quite as bad as a lot of people think---yet ;)
