View Full Version : Goodbye My Friend
Tattoo 09-25-2007, 07:28 AM Where do I begin, we shared so many great times together. Cuttyhunk, Block Island, Montauk, Cape Cod, and every inch of RI's Coastline. It's all a blur looking back trying to remember all the cookouts, birthday parties, get togethers, nights of fishing, beer drinking, and people we met.
My son will remember how you taught him to stomp on ants in the driveway on the mornings you stopped by and brought him a donut.
My wife will remember the joy you brought to our son's face, dinner with the families, and how you were always full of life.
I will remember how important your wife and son was to you, your words of encouragement, your determination, your zest for life, and your friendship.
John, you were a great person, friend, and mentor. I will miss you deeply, rest in peace my friend.

JohnR 09-25-2007, 01:19 PM Thanks Mike - In a lot of ways he was a like a big brother to you...
Fish_Eye 09-25-2007, 02:59 PM I hope some of the following pictures bring back some fond memories of John, on the web, by the water and at the watering hole.
Mike, I know how much he ment to you and he will always be with you in spirit.
I remember when your wife was first pregnant and you returned from the doctors office and couldn't wait to post the picture/sonogram of your first child. A little work in Photoshop, another quick post and a follow up call to John that went something like this, "John, you better take a closer look at that sonogram from Tattoo, I think you have some explaining to do. Who's your daddy?" Well it took a minute or two and then I heard a roar from the other side of the phone. John was on the floor laughing over that one.
Mike
Fish_Eye 09-25-2007, 03:04 PM The trips to Coddington Brewing Co. were always memorable...in fact they will live on in the pages of Dave DiBenedetto's book, "On The Run"
Fish_Eye 09-25-2007, 03:08 PM John enjoyed wearing this hat because he loved to watch people's reactions when they realized that Santa's little helpers were up to no good.
Fish_Eye 09-25-2007, 03:11 PM You'll never be forgotten old friend.
fumifish 09-25-2007, 05:17 PM :(

Surfpirate 09-25-2007, 05:58 PM Mike, you forgot one of Habs favorites
I will see you tomorrow.
fishenough 09-25-2007, 06:51 PM Wow, I really missed out never meeting John. The stories and pics you are all sharing are great. That sonogram is hilarious. Such a sad loss. Way to young to have gone so soon.
Fish_Eye 09-25-2007, 07:11 PM Surfpirate,
Now you've gone and done it. I left that one off the board for fear the Hab's would meet me a the pearly gates and lock me out. I'm not sure that the Habs/Simmons compilation was one of his favorites...although it always got a good laugh from everyone else.
