View Full Version : Anyone catching under the moon?
goosefish 09-25-2007, 07:10 PM So far this week two slow nights. Jigging, plugging. I'm in a little slump. Slow last week too.
I'm chasing a ghost--that is I'm fishing spots that in years past have produced good fish in late-September. But those spots are yielding nothing. What to do? I'm stubborn--many of us are--and I refuse to believe that my go-to spot is dry. It makes me feel a little naked. Scared too. I need a good fish. My winter, the whole of humanity, depends on it. Eels, right? Chunks on the bottom the next gale we have down on East Beach. The south shore is producing fish, but the fish seem to be staying out in 30 feet. They'll come in with the next big breeze. We need a blow. Unless I'm the only one slumping. Could be.
joe the plumber 09-25-2007, 07:39 PM Your not the only one slumping.I was talking to a friend about it last night. The fish seem to be in a summer pattern.Late night bite.Time for an end to this August weather and get on with fall and the appetite's that come with it.
tattoobob 09-25-2007, 07:45 PM I have a feeling with in the next couple of weeks and this weather pattern change at the end of the week will start the fish moving
I just hope I am not missing something, somewhere I am not fishing
You need to go fishing to catch fish. I haven't been out at night in over a week.:lasso: Next time I'll think twice before offering to help the other half with her 25 page paper. :spin:
Beer me......please. :hs:
joe the plumber 09-25-2007, 08:01 PM Dam straight! Can't catch em sittin on the couch,or writing thesis's.
Brother Brian 09-25-2007, 08:12 PM It isn't for lack of bait. Two nights in a week with conditions about the same weather wise. In the dark there were fish, under the moon, not.

She just discovered my Under Armor shirt that i wear with my wetsuit. It was in the laundry that hasn't been washed since that last trip out. Funky to say the least. That should teach her.:heybaby:
joe the plumber 09-25-2007, 08:18 PM I bet it doesn't.If shes an intellectual she will probably write her next paper on the essence on man!
Tagger 09-25-2007, 08:19 PM I been catching 14" fish ... same fish .. over and over ..
joe the plumber 09-25-2007, 08:19 PM Sorry, essence of man!
BigFish 09-25-2007, 08:22 PM Catching? Yes. Like Tagger said.....dinks....tons of peanuts around! I think there is just alot of bait right now....when the bait starts to split the fishing will blow up! The large will begin to search and scavenge!
The Dad Fisherman 09-25-2007, 11:32 PM Just got in....a whole lot of nada.
goosefish 09-25-2007, 11:56 PM Mixed bag of bass and blues. All fish under six pounds. Dropped one that took drag. White darter.
The geologist took a beauty. We'll hear from him tomorrow. Dork.
fished as well.. threw a Habs elite wad needle hoping to catch something decent in honor of the mustache man.. no luck for me.. maybe better luck tomorrow. I never do well under the giant light bulb called the full moon...:hs:
Back Beach 09-26-2007, 05:13 AM I think we already had the first big push of fall fish. From the first week of september until about 10 days ago, there were a lot of surf caught large( 30#) plus fish. The last 10 days or so seems to have slacked way off. I think we are in between schools right now. As for the moon, I avoid it unless there is cloud cover. Tonight's the full, so I will likely wait three or four nights to go back out.
As always, someone will do something somewhere on the full from the surf. Personally though, its my last choice.
From the boat it can be outstanding.
onecastmike2003 09-26-2007, 05:24 AM big white pikie 3 lips are working and its still a night bite so relax up there and its still augest like someone said. Its gona be a late run.
water temps are the keys so let the full slide out and then fish hard guys.
Tight lines surf guys
JFigliuolo 09-26-2007, 07:08 AM We've been slow for the past 10 days or so also...

RIROCKHOUND 09-26-2007, 07:24 AM John, your permit has been rescinded.
geek.
RIJIMMY 09-26-2007, 08:03 AM come on Bryan, share your fish
RIROCKHOUND 09-26-2007, 08:05 AM Not worth sharing, he's just busting my balls.
goosefish 09-26-2007, 08:30 AM Let's see, my biggest last night was about 24"; Bryan's was over 40". Yeah it ain't the R.I. State Record, but still, giving the conditions, I'd say it's a very fine catch.
piemma 09-26-2007, 08:58 AM That's it Oak!!!
I'm back in the surf tonight. First time in 2 years. Probably forgot how to jump rocks so you will have to watch the "old man" in case I fall in.:heybaby:
reelecstasy 09-26-2007, 09:11 AM Nothing special, last night/eve a bunch of 30" fish, all top water so that is fun. Tons of peanuts around....
