Strange, the things that stick out in your memory.Hab's loved to laugh and nothing set him off like toilet humor.I went to meet him last fall at a spot in RI and he arrived before me with false light yet to arrive.I pulled up behind him serenaded by the waves crashing below us and proceeded to get out and start gearing up.John came out to greet me and says "be careful of that Boa Constrictor."I'm a big person who is terrified of snakes so I jump back half startled and ask him what he is talking about.John is hysterical with laughter and tells me he just took a dump on the side of the road and it was all coiled up like it was ready to strike!!!
It had to have been 5 or 6 years ago when I went to the East Bay show with my brother, we met Iron Mike in the parking lot and pounded beers for a bit before going into the show.Hab loved to stink out a room and had no problem proclaiming himself The King when it came to such matters but this night the crown was passed.Copious amounts of Harpoon IPA had entered my system and I was loaded for bear and ready to wreak havoc. When all was said and done a room was cleared with olfactory overload and Habs had tears coming down his face with laughter.Habs removed his ever present hat and feigned pasing his crown to my ugly mug.
Too many funny stories and great memories. A life cut way too short. I miss John and I will for a long time.He was good to me and great to my family and I never saw him treat somebody the wrong way.A man to respect because he treated others with dignity. He never forgot the past and always treated the older generation with reverance. This really sucks.
