i thought i saw one the other day
that tell tale flash of white and black
when they fly..

then i confirmed it as it hops on my deck
enjoying the spilled bird seed...

Junco's come ahead of our Nasty weather
and they are as accurate as a diving tern is for fish
as an indicator of some NASTY weather coming our way

and sure enough lots of rain in the forcast
for next week ... and we've had precious little.

One of my favorites. looking forward to seeing them. We usually just get sparrows and dirty pigions that my neighbor feeds[:af: :liquify:].

Once I put the bird feeder out I get Slate colored yunkos and a random Oregon yunko

saw a single Junco yesterday
and surprised a flock of 40-50 of em
in my back and side -yard this afternoon...

so here it comes....! ole man winter temps.

Thursday into Saturday appears to be shaping into a classic winter nor'easter pattern. another 8 weeks, we'd have increasing snow, wind into Saturday.

I got a huge flock of chicadees this week in my yard. There was about 2-300 of them. In every tree there was like 25. You shoulda heard all the racket they made. They were eating the stuff off the hemlocks.

Had a huge flock of some really dark colored birds about 3 weeks ago they were the size of robins. Several thousand birds. I had taken some iphone pics of them but they didnt turn out as good as I'd like to try and identify. The flock covered every tree in more than 2 yards.

they congregate first to use the aerodynamics
of the whole flock before heading south
