most computer problems i can figure out how to fix
but this one is a mind blower pain in the butt...
a tricky situation...

first of all i have no BOOKS on windows XP period
so i can only read stuff on the net....

note to self:
hmmmm perhaps a library run is in order

my powersave feature is activated and shuts off my monitor in 5 minutes!!
which is just about the time i get onto my desktop.
after booting up.......

i have changed all the power schemes to NEVER shut off
the freakin monitor .................. yet it is still doing it...
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i cannot fix what i cannot see.....
i even went into the BIOS to see if
i could reset things to default mode
and nothing is working... yet

suggestions?

Try a different profile when you log in and see if it does it. also does the monitor maybe have a powersave feature.

but thinking back in my PC history
i've never had this problem...before
not to where it would shut off the monitor
and not be able to wake it up that is....

i'm leaning in the direction that its an XP feature
(that i simply hate )
but you might be correct on the monitor feature
and i know i'm not running the right drivers for it
because XP wouldn't autorun the CD they came on.

the monitor is an oldie but goodie from 1996
A 21 inch though...that still works great...

i'm backing up the drive's data right now , onto
a 320 gig drive , then it's gonna get formatted.:behead:

i finally found the friggan adjustment after many hours
of playing with several computers... yes it was on the
monitor itself ....i must have changed the setting accidentally
one day without realizing it .........is all i can say or think of...

live and learn i guess....and now with my $1250 monitor
working ever so sweetly again... it's time to drink beer :gu:
