blues love em!

How does the finish hold up to those choppers? I hate to use expensive wood on them, go to Cordell plastics when blues are prevalent.

Seagars are one of the best poppers they're dual use it's a cross between a pencil and a bottle. Throws water and has a nice slashing action a little lower than a normal pencil. Very seductive. The banana is usually the only popper I will throw in Maine off the rocks.

the finish actually holds up terrific,catchin blues all day and just a few nicks on it.gives it some character.

I just broke out my first salty cigar on monday, second or third cast I got a fat little 34" Striper. My cast was about 50 yards and the fish crushed it ten feet from the rock I was on.

no offense and im not saying salty's cigars aren't great, cause they are. but bloos will chomp a turd on a stick if you twitch it in front of their face.

i wouldnt throw out a 25 dollar plug if bloos are around i don't care how the finish holds up.

That would be almost 3x what it wholesales for...and if'n someone is selling like that then they're gone tomorrow...eff that baloney

actually scott, i havent seen any of your plugs down this way so i guess it's not fair to say your plugs.

but the going rate for custom plugs in tackle shops around here is 20-25.
tough to shell out that kinda money for something that could get swiped up by a bloo at any given moment

wouldnt mind seeing your plugs down here. ah /gibbs etc needs some competition ;)

My son and I fished the mouth of Bass River at sunset and were doing constant hook ups on Blues using Salty's Slammers in Parrot. Lots of others were trying but we were the only two making constant hook ups. I'm looking for the blue that I released with the bucktail still in it's mouth that he chomped off my Salty's pencil popper. Neither of us ever had the experience of losing a plug to a angry or hungry blue and we both have been fishing for a long time. I'd suggest to those that do, try using a stronger leader or even a wire leader.

Salty cigars also catch Stripers :)
Used them in NH, Mass, and NY and caught Blues and Striped ones and the finish is very durable.
