with high wind advisories up for the weekend I am second guessing my original plans to fish South County RI. What do you guys think....is it a blowout or worth fishing???

Me too
Of course I went two weeks ago and two weeks before that.
I told my wife that next year I am going every weekend so no one can tell me you should have been here last wknd. They'll just say you should have been here Wednesday.:rocketem:
My concern this wknd is that the big north winds will blow the bait and fish right out to DZ and the guys on BI.

Fall just started about two weeks ago. I picked this coming week about 8 months ago to take off so I'm fishing and I'll definately start and end in SoCo while waiting for the BI ferry :bounce:

How are the beaches down that way? I heard some talk about them being real torn up from all the heavy surf, big chunks missing and such. I was thinking about heading down that way this weekend, but I think I'm gonna stay up this way instead, still lots of fish around in my area.

I'll be hiding inside I think. I'm tough to discourage, but at some point it's just a lost cause. This is a pretty serious forecast. Sustained 25 to 45kt winds and gust to 65kts? Awfully tough to fish in. Last night and maybe the start of tonight will be the window to fish.

I've got a spot out front that I very rarely fish. We have done VERY well there in big water w/ a strong northerly wind. Stong S wind forget it. I'm going to try to make it there tonight.

Looks like Sat might be unbearable but I actually took Monday off so I could fish sunday night.

So after a big storm does the fishing generally turn on or will I be fishing a turned up desert?

That soon, I vote for the later unfortunately. The wind will be strong SW which doesn't help the churn.

I was telling a couple of my buds about a storm in late October of 88 when there were 8 to 10' waves on the South Coast. We hammered big fish all night and into the next day on 3oz bottle plugs and reverse atoms in the old amber color.
Another notable was the day after hurricane Bob, I don't remember the year, maybe 90 or 91? Anyway, we fished Deep Hole with waves so big they were rolling right over us. Soaked to the skin and hammering 30#+ fish all that day.
You never know. Go but be aware of your surroundings. Big waves can crush you like a bug on a windshield.

I am going to go for a few hours this evening (surf) but tomorrow will be a blow out. They are calling for gusts to 75 here, it will be a mess...even if you find a fishable spot it will be real dirty. I pulled the boat today ...but I will put it back next week for a few more trips.

hunker down for a day.

Heading out now - low tide and it's not too bad, yet. No plan for tomorrow as this Noreaster seems set to hammer us.

I went down this morning Mike. No one around except a couple of guys (you slip mate included) doubling up their lines.
I doubled mine. I think they give the big boys preferential treatment.

I'm safe way back where I am.
