YAFA: Yet Another ^&#%$*! Auction
YAFR: Yet Another ^&#%$*! Raffle
YAFFR: Yet Another ^&#%$*! Fund Raiser
YAWFC: Yet Another Worthy ^&#%$*! Cause

I have a dilemma. We have had so many raffles and fundraisers here recently - all for good and worthy causes by all means. That I am looking for your advice on how to annonce Yet Another ^&#%$*! BLANK!!

I could call it YAFA: Yet Another ^&#%$*! Auction

Or I could say: YAFR: Yet Another ^&#%$*! Raffle

Or perhaps: YAFFR: Yet Another ^&#%$*! Fund Raiser

Actually, this is part TWO of my dilemma - what to call it??

You see, Veterans day is coming up and some of the blogging community (including a couple that I read) are running a drive to provide laptops and IT services to soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan that due to wounds received do not have use of hands to TYPE. The project provides equipment and training to these wounded warriors to allow them to retrain themselves, contact with the outside world, or simply call back to mom & dad over the Internet. Or another way to look at it - EXACLTY WHAT YOU AND I ARE DOING RIGHT NOW!

So my twofold dilemma, part one, is that I feel like I'm passing the hat around a lot lately yet here is something worthy of all AMERICANS to contribute to regardless of political stripes....

Maybe I'll Just call it YAWFC: Yet Another Worthy ^&#%$*! Cause

Project Details:

Project-Valour-IT, Project Voice-Activated Laptops for OUR Injured Troops, 3rd Annual Fundraiser

When? From now until Veterans Day

http://www.soldiersangels.org/index.php?page=project-valour-it

What they do:
Voice-Activated Laptops for OUR Injured Troops

Short version:
Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, helps provide voice-controlled and adaptive laptop computers to wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries at major military medical centers. Operating laptops by speaking into a microphone or using other adaptive technologies, our wounded heroes are able to send and receive messages from friends and loved ones, surf the 'Net, and communicate with buddies still in the field. The experience of MAJ Charles “Chuck” Ziegenfuss, a partner in the project who suffered serious hand wounds while serving in Iraq, illustrates how important these laptops can be to a wounded service member's recovery.

The "Competition" - There is a competition from organizations supporting the 4 general branches of the military. Each Branch has a "Team". The "Team" that wins generally gets to go and belittle, harass, poke-prod and ridicule the loser teams. In the end, everyone supports a great cause...

How does S-B help? We're certainly not ball and chained to any one of these teams but we do have many here that were once members of these SERVICE teams and even more that support these teams. The following Sites are the PRIME sites representing each branch of the military:

Navy / Coast Guard donations: Here at Striped-Bass.com go to http://www.striped-bass.com/fishing/news/member-news/yafa-yet-another--auction.html
(Lead Navy/CG site here: http://www.chaoticsynapticactivity.com (http://www.chaoticsynapticactivity.com/) )
Army donations: Black Five http://www.blackfive.net (http://www.blackfive.net/)
Marine donations: Soldiers Angels Blog http://sablogs.com (http://sablogs.com/)
Air Force donations: Mudville Gazette http://www.mudvillegazette.com (http://www.mudvillegazette.com/)

Mail donations:
Soldiers' Angels Project Valour-IT Fund
NAVY TEAM,
1792 E. Washington Blvd Pasadena, Ca 91104

So Please Support this and please get out the word - If you are at a loss for who Team Up for, contribute to Team Navy/Coast Guard - Why? Becuase that is how I found out abhout this :hihi: and the only A$$ they are kicking at the moment is the Air Force

Guys - all I'm saying is - if you want to throw 5, 10, 20 or whatever towards something that helps out wounded troops from now through Veterans day, this is a good opportunity, that's all.

I'm not running anything, this is a national charity, tax-deductible... That's all...

I'm getting a little charitied out too, just saw this, through in some doe, and letting others see it... That's all...

I would also think Army and Marines have many, many more wounded. HAve the CG or NAvy been involved in any combat? Not trying to stir anything up.

Thanks for brining this to my attention John

Two - things - all the money goes to who needs it - regardless of service. The "Team" thing is just bragging rights on who raises the money, that's all.

As for those wounded, the majority are soldiers and marines. However, Navy Corspman have been wounded with the Marines as they pretty much grunt with the Marines and Air Force personel, are frequently located with Army units, especially Forward Air Controllers... So the wounded are significantly more in Soldiers and Marines but Navy & Air Force also have people on the ground too...
