Just had the left front wheel hub in my 06' Chevy replaced??? 40,000 miles! They replaced the right one at 15,000 miles???:huh: Curious if anyone else has an 06' Chevy truck and have you experienced this??? Also, how long labor wise to replace one and how much does the wheel hub cost???:huh:

sealed JUNK they use nowadays and they don't care how long it lasts it's meant to be replaced now. No grease fitting=garbage.

I just priced one for my ride. $250! With my mini Jimmy, pull the wheel, pull the caliper and rotor, remove the axel nut, unbolt the hub. If it's not too cruded on, it shouldn't take long.

The left front has the most weight.:)

Shop around. I paid about $95 for the bearing and Sears installed including pressed fit the bearing into the hub. You may not need to buy complete hub assembly when only the bearing is shot. The labor cost was low due to a error on their part. Again shop around but know what your talking about so you don't get taken for a ride.

Now if you install yourself then get complete assembly. Easy to do as mentioned in previous post.

The mileage is low at 15k to replace the hubs even at 40k.

Thats why I went Japanese two weeks ago. No mo amelican vehicles for this guy. Banzai!!!!!!!!

I had to buy one on the Vineyard year before last, $238.00. Replace the other one when I got home. Like Clammer said, all sealed junk, at least on the light duties. I think 3/4 ton and up they can still be serviced.

I'm taking my 04 GMC in tommorrow for routine 30,000 mile maintenance, lube, tranny fluid change, filters etc...
I used to do that all that stuff myself but now I just write checks.

American cars/trucks blow. 15000 miles, unreal...no wonder they're all about to fold and/or have our Govt bail them out. You don't see the Jap car companys in trouble. Why? They make a quality product, thats why.

I love my 98 tacoma with 153,000 miles. Bought it used (with confidence)30,000 miles ago and havent had any issues. Before this I had bought a Corolla also with 130,000 drove it to over 200,000, sold it for $100 less than I paid for it 5 years earlier .. never a problem (other than rust of course) but it was still running like a top!

Funny thing is I didnt want the car (no nothing foreign!!!!) at the time but I needed a car cheap and a friend of a friend needed to sell. Now I am sold!

We still have to help Bigfish Larry out here before he goes into the shop. He's got problems with his thing with the tires so we need to help best as we can.

I have never heard of unusual hub problems with the GM's. Mine and most of the guys I know have had no problems. Not to say there isn't something out there though and you might find out by asking the GM dealership or inquiring around the internet. Hopefully Larry you got the first hub replaced on your warranty.

First, I would ask them exactly what on the hub went bad and what they think is the cause. I would ask them to check out the operation of the 4X4 as well to make sure it is operating properly. Ask them to find the reason for the wear.

Secondly, Tell the dealershipship that you think this is unusual and you are concerned that you had either bad parts or a bum front end that is causing excessive wear to the components. Ask the dealer to discuss this with the GM regional manager (who visits the dealerships regularly) and see if the regional manager will extend your warranty on the driveline components from GM .

Third, if you can't get the warranty extended you may still be able to purchase an extension. I used to get those offers in the mail all the time, when the vehicle was less than 3 years old.
