View Full Version : ROBBED!!! MrHunters 11-13-2007, 02:50 PM :af::af::af: sports writers don't know what they are talking about. spence 11-13-2007, 02:56 PM Yea, what a crock of %$%$%$%$. -spence BigFish 11-13-2007, 03:17 PM What a joke!!!:realmad: The Dad Fisherman 11-13-2007, 03:27 PM OK I'll play Devils Advocate. Sabathia had a Better ERA than Beckett, More Strikeouts than Beckett, and Less Walks than Beckett. Sabathia Worked more games and pitched more Innings than Beckett. This was a tough choice this year for the Cy Young Remember that the Post Season isn't usually looked at when it comes to the Cy Young either. I wouldn't say Beckett got robbed....Sabathia had a stellar season and he deserved it too. And Beckett has something he doesn't.....a 2007 World Championship I bet Sabathia would rather have that. spence 11-13-2007, 03:31 PM SABATHIA DOESN'T PLAY FOR THE REDSOX YOU FOOL!!! -spence ProfessorM 11-13-2007, 03:39 PM Ballots are submitted before playoffs I think. The Dad Fisherman 11-13-2007, 03:39 PM Yeah I know, But if everybody agreed where would the fun be in that. I'm just bringing up an opposing view for discussion ProfessorM 11-13-2007, 03:54 PM It was definitely a close race for sure and anyone could have taken it. I will take the WS and I am sure JB will too. Probably could care less. Mike P 11-13-2007, 04:17 PM Ballots are submitted before playoffs I think. You're right. Cy Young and MVP are regular season awards and are voted on before the post-season starts--precisely because THEY ARE REGULAR SEASON AWARDS!!!! MLB doesn't want the post-season to influence voting for those awards. EarnedStripes44 11-13-2007, 04:31 PM OK I'll play Devils Advocate. He is absolutely right, in every premise and subsequent conclusions. Tagger 11-13-2007, 05:07 PM OK I'll play Devils Advocate. Yea but Beckett pitched in the American League East ... :err: Mike P 11-13-2007, 05:49 PM Yea but Beckett pitched in the American League East ... :err: Which included the Orioles and Tampa Bay ;) Both of whom had records as bad as, or worse than, the Royals. And don't forget how good Detroit was until the wheels started coming off in mid-August. Backbeach Jake 11-13-2007, 06:02 PM If I remember correctly, Beckett had more wins in fewer games and fewer innings. fishsmith 11-13-2007, 06:13 PM 40 more innings for Sabathia, that did it. Those innings do a lot to preserve the bullpen. Beckett will have to make it through the winter months knowing that he is the greatest playing pitcher in the postseaon. boot man 11-14-2007, 08:20 AM Check out the difference in run support both received. And I think Sabathia lost a few one run games. As much as I'd like to jump on the "Beckett got robbed" bandwagon, I can see why they made the choice they did. Personally, I'm glad Sabathia pitched more regular season games. It seemed to work in our favor when it really mattered. Now how do I go about trying to accept the fact that A-Rod may be Boston when all is said and done (Man, I hope they sign Lowell, but I'm not optimistic!)? Saltheart 11-14-2007, 11:34 AM Robbed!!! Mike P 11-14-2007, 03:27 PM Now how do I go about trying to accept the fact that A-Rod may be Boston when all is said and done (Man, I hope they sign Lowell, but I'm not optimistic!)? From what I understand, rumors are flying around NY and WFAN that A-Rod told Boras to go pound sand and is trying to broker a back-door deal with the Yankees using an "unidentified third party". Mike P 11-14-2007, 07:24 PM Do you think that Boras and A-Rod just have a handshake deal on representation? ;) We have a couple of real estate agents who post here--ask them what happens if you sign a listing agreement giving them the exclusive right to market your house over the next 90 days, and then turn around and sell it on your own during that time frame :humpty: A-Rod will likely owe Boras his percentage, and by signing for less money, he's really shooting himself in the foot. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
