It looks like the Feds got the goods on him..... Five counts of perjury and one obstruction of justice. Good bye records, career, legacy. MLB must be breathing a sigh of relief. Though he never tested positive, he has isolated himself so much from everything and everybody that he will end up swinging by himself. Henry Aaron will remain the gold standard. Once the Feds got involved with Vick, it was only days before he was pleading guilty. Bye bye Barry.....

So perhaps this may be the first case where there's no such thing as bad PR really is all that bad :zup:

That's not entirely true. He never tested positive on a MLB administered test, but those have only been around for a short period, and by then Bonds was likely off the juice and doing HGH. HGH ovccurs naturally in the human body and without a baseline, you can't tell whether someone is injecting it. However, Balco was also monitoring his "treatment" by testing him for steroid levels. Part of the case against him rests on a s-load of positive steroid tests that Balco was running on him, both to test his levels and to test the effectiveness of masking agents. All of Balco's records were seized by the Feds when they shut it down.

The Feds would not have indicted him for perjury, on the theory that he lied about doing steroids, unless they had solid documentary evidence that he did. They couldn't make a perjury charge stick, if it was just based on someone saying, "I saw him do steroids".
