View Full Version : threads MrHunters 11-26-2007, 08:05 AM A is thicker than D? or vise versa Thanks. Swimmer 11-26-2007, 12:17 PM D is thicker than A. Many builders do the underwraps in A and then cover with D. Some do A over and under. Some do D over and under. But nobody does D under and then overwrap with A. MrHunters 11-26-2007, 01:38 PM But nobody does D under and then overwrap with A. why? SeaWolf 11-27-2007, 09:04 AM because you will have gaps in your thread from the underwrap thru the overwrap. unless you coat the underwrap in epoxy first. This is my first rod so forgive my ignorance Swimmer 11-27-2007, 07:09 PM I just rechecked this thread. Thank you Seawolf for letting Mr. Hunters know why to his question. Mr. Hunters if you need any help PM me. MrHunters 11-27-2007, 07:42 PM thanks guys, swimmer, will do. im psyched to get started. Saltheart 12-05-2007, 09:34 AM Use A under and over. To me , the only place on a rod for D is over cork tape around the reel seat and up the taper from the blank. Even there its just easier but can be done with A if you take a little extra time. get used to working with A and you'll be happier with the finished product in the long run. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
