A is thicker than D? or vise versa

Thanks.

D is thicker than A. Many builders do the underwraps in A and then cover with D. Some do A over and under. Some do D over and under. But nobody does D under and then overwrap with A.

because you will have gaps in your thread from the underwrap thru the overwrap. unless you coat the underwrap in epoxy first.

Use A under and over. To me , the only place on a rod for D is over cork tape around the reel seat and up the taper from the blank. Even there its just easier but can be done with A if you take a little extra time.

get used to working with A and you'll be happier with the finished product in the long run.
