View Full Version : Best Rod 100-150? Tica, Lami SK, Tsu, Okuma?
5 String Bass 11-29-2007, 05:34 PM Tica Dolphin vs. Lami SK vs. Tsunami Airwave vs. Okuma EVX
Anyone try an EVX? They have a lifetime warranty and I can't seem to find much on them.
Looking for a versitle rod that can cast at least 6 oz jigs or bait. 11' -12'
Thanks!
mikecc 11-29-2007, 05:46 PM None that you have mentioned
Fishpart 11-29-2007, 06:32 PM You should contact mikecc directly. He is a sponsor and he certainly won't steer you wrong.
I lost track of all the rods out there a while ago, but someone had a 1209 for sale in the classifieds within the last week, that rod can cast almost anything you can lift.

basswipe 11-29-2007, 08:06 PM In that price range.Quarrow hands down.Nothing else beats it for price and quality.Lifetime warranty.

Missed the 11'-12' requirement.Best of luck in your price range for a stick of that size.
5 String Bass 12-01-2007, 11:34 AM Thanks for the replies. I'll look into Quarrow (never heard of 'em)- 10'6" is pretty close to 11', so maybe.
Mike, a 1209 custom for 150??? Umm, yeah I like the sound of that. Where, how, when?
Pete F. 12-01-2007, 12:01 PM I have heard but do not have personal experience that the bass pro shop ocean master fits that bill.

5 String Bass 12-03-2007, 04:42 PM Thanks for the replies. I have even more to think about now- lol
I think I'm going to take a ride to M&D's right after the holiday. Mike, it looks like you carry a lot of the rods I'm interested in, plus custom stuff. See you soon.
The Dad Fisherman 12-03-2007, 04:46 PM The Quarrow is a great choice....used one last time I was at Cutty and it was a great rod....threw a pencil a mile

Wish I could still say Quarrow but they discontinued 90% of the series last year.
Out of 19 different types of rods we ordered from Quarrow last year we only got 3. The company is all f*#@*d up right now & the Rep is a joke.
5 String Bass 12-03-2007, 07:29 PM Ouch! I would suppose that 90% includes all things surf..
I'm still paying you a visit after x-mas.
It's only December and I'm already hording gear for the Spring! Damn sickness!

Thats too bad, great rod for the money. The one you sold me a while back has been my go to rod ever since.
Personally I'd go tica and spend the extra money on jigs, they are also a great rod for the money. Its winter, so you could always take your time and look for a used rod in the classifieds.
