RickBomba 12-05-2007, 07:23 PM Called....HOW THE HECK DO JOHN AND THE REST OF YOU IT GUYS DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, the new job requires a lot of thinking.
10 hours a day of custom software implementation and manipulation.
Good thing I don't have to know much more about Oracle than how to install it...Nobody every told me anything about database configuaration...Don't worry, they said, we can teach you, you're the most savvy inventory application operator in the Greater Boston area!!!!
End game operator, maybe...setup from scratch, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
At least today was the first day that I didn't want to quit!
I'll say this much, you guys got some brems.
Later,
Rick
JohnR 12-05-2007, 09:33 PM Run, run , run away :boots:
Yeh, the thinking part can be both exhilarating and crappy at the same time. So you are now Geek Bomba??
Rappin Mikey 12-06-2007, 07:51 AM Always was.:laughs:
The Dad Fisherman 12-06-2007, 08:35 AM Welcome to IT......
The only time you're recognized is when something breaks, it ALWAYS breaks at the MOST in-opportune time, and because you sit in front of your PC all day they think you aren't doing anything.
Oh Yeah and get ready to be the #1 excuse why somebody else didn't get their work done "My PC isn't Working", "The Server is slow", "I called IT 2 hours ago and they still haven't come yet", "Is that what they pay you the big bucks for, just to tell me to reboot", "Is there something wrong with the Server" (cuz we only have one you know), and my all time favorite "The Internet is down" (Yeah, the WHOLE internet has crashed).
Good Luck...
The Dad Fisherman 12-06-2007, 10:03 AM Oh and Rick.....don't forget that you have some IT resources right here on the board. if you get stuck you can always ask here and you may get the answer you're looking for. I've actually gotten help on a couple for issues at work by asking around here....so don't hesitate
Rockport24 12-06-2007, 12:49 PM so Rick, you're no longer the Ninja Chef?
:scatter:
chris L 12-06-2007, 02:33 PM nope now he is a computer geek . he has always been a geek but now they ask him to touch ( for now ) computers .
bloocrab 12-06-2007, 04:53 PM With physical labor you come home after work physically tired ...you eat....relax a little and then go to sleep. Ya wake up the next day fresh and ready to go.
With IT junk, you come home mentally tired, you eat (while still thinking about the days messes)....you go to bed and put yourself to sleep thinking about the problems you left for tomorrow....and when you wake up, YOU INSTANTLY GET MENTALLY TIRED BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHATS IN STORE FOR YOU WHEN YOU GET THERE. :hf1::hf1::hang:
There's no winning either way I guess....
Can you say SUGAR MOMMA??? :lasso:
:wavey:....I'll be the first in line for one of those!!!!!
tattoobob 12-06-2007, 06:39 PM No mater what your job is it is work and work sucks :bsod:
Backbeach Jake 12-06-2007, 06:49 PM I've come to the conclusion that if it isn't fish related, it sucks. Good luck Rick.
RickBomba 12-06-2007, 08:55 PM Today was better...
Got to set up a test database for bid ordering...a little more real world applicable for me.
Wow, at least everybody in the company thinks I'm doing well.....Not used to work cooperation, restaurant people are like vultures, they sense the inexperienced ones in the group and throw you under the bus.
Good news is I'm starting to be able to type really fast!
OK, beddy bye time.
Rick
