Or just one of those yearly freak catches? Slipknot 09-28-2002, 06:32 PM You're right, he was after bass with mackeral for bait:( So what? he caught and landed it and that is really something. How ya been Jaiem? BasicPatrick 09-28-2002, 09:16 PM Is that Hi Patrick for me... Slipknot 09-28-2002, 09:38 PM Originally posted by BasicPatrick Is that Hi Patrick for me... sorry, nope different one. scarecrow 09-29-2002, 11:18 AM Thats is pretty amazing and things like this are what brings us back after a night of being skunked. Also, I think that maybe the new record for a tuna being caught from shore the only other one I have heard of is On October 30, 1986 Dan Colli hooked and landed a 68-pound yellowfin tuna on a Spofford Ballistic Missle while casting for bluefish.(Source-Striper Hot Spots) 179 09-30-2002, 06:46 AM Imagine the fight he must have had with that fish on a surf rod. He should submit that pic and story to Sport Fishing magazine.... Jaiem 09-30-2002, 11:23 AM Hi Slip! (and all) Been busier than a one-legged man at a butt kicking contest. ;) (heard that in a flick one time, thought it sounded good) I totally agree, a good catch. Was just curious if he was after them specifically or a by catch. BTW, I was on an overnight in the Hudson Canyon last weekend. A group of 4 anglers we had 9 yellowfins, 6 longfins, 3 dorado and released 3 brown sharks. Attached is a pic. Highlight of the trip was when I was fighting a yellowfin it made a long powerful run such that I thought I was into a real good one. When it came boat side we saw why - a chunk had been bitten out of it! We figure one of those big canyon makos had tried for an easy meal. :D Saltheart 09-30-2002, 06:41 PM Good to hear from you again Jaiem. Sounds like a great tuna trip. JohnR 10-01-2002, 01:02 PM Flatts has a good article about Striper Mike's catch on his site: http://basspond.com/bpond_ubb/Forum1/HTML/000109.html vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
