as I continue my migration from surfcaster to boater, I am thinking of things I need to do differently. I recently bought some plastic cases to store my plugs and terminal tackel for easier access on the boat. LAst year, I used my surf bag.
I usually tie a bunch of leaders, some for plugs/jigs, a bunch with hooks for eels. In the surf, I carried these in individual ziplock bags, not ideal, but it kept them from tangling. Now I am wondering what the best way to store them in the boat is?
Any ideas or suggestions?

I do the same thing on the boat, 4X6 ziplocks in soft worm pouch. I also have kept them in a spinner bait container

Go get a swimming pool noodle. Cut to desired length /I use about a 20- 24" piece and bury the hook in it and wrap the leader around the noodle. Then just tuck in the othe end. simple and CHEAP. Benny's .99 cents. You can make 3 or four of them from a single noodle. They also work great for gaff harpoon protectors and they come in bright colors.

I also do the zip lock bag, but the Noodle Idea sounds good also!

I use the cheap zip lock bags they sell at CVS for beads/crafting etc... Put one leader in a bag and mark it with a sharpie if it's anything special.

Perhaps it's anal, but it works well.

I usually just tie up leaders as I need them. For complete rigs I use coin envelopes that I bought at staples.

I use those soft sided CD cases, they are usually a couple bucks at WalMart. Great way to store fluke rigs too.

I use Fluro leaders with Sampo swivels on one end and a Breakaway clip on the other. I get the Fluro on those plastic spools with the snap cover, tie up the swivels and snaps on the length of leader I like. Then re-wrap them clipped end to end back on the plastic spool and snap the cover back on. Nice and tidy. Just pop the cover, unwrap one leader rig and unclip from the next snap, and then pop the cover back on.

Like MM, I tie as needed. I carry a plano box with a bunch of diff hooks, swivels, etc, and I carry a few spools of leader material.

I use old line spools. you can have a bunch of them on a dowel and take as necessary.

I picked up some quality tupperware at wally world, they have water proof seals with 4 hinges on the lid and they come in all sorts of convenient sizes perfect for storing terminal tackle(they're like 3 bucks). I used to pretie leaders for the season like a lot guys do but I rarely do now. I find it better to keep a leader material, hooks & swivels(still in they're small ziplock baggies) ect. in a little tupperware, tie as I go along....its not that big of a deal takes less than a minute and I don't have to second guess the knots,, I think they're stronger.

In the early spring or late fall when its freekin cold , I'll tie rigs up for whatever I'm going for and just put each in its own ziplock. When its warm I just tie as needed.

Great topic!! I was thinking of making some overly complex Tarpon-leader-straigtening dohickey on the inside of my wheelhouse roof. No mind you, I fish New England. So I will continue to do what I have always done, tie as I go. I may tie a bunch of Tog leaders or Squid jig leads up ahead of time, if that is my target for the next week or so, but in general, I'll be tying on an as needed basis from my tackle center.

I like to use old CD cases.Just spin the leader as you coil it in the case.

I like how BF does his, using an old spool...Clean and tangle free

I store my leaders in a simple inexpensive home made device. Take two plastic coffee can lids with the lips facing each other and fasten them together in the middle with one OIC Brass paper fastener from Staples. Just wrap your leader inside.

i use a fly leader book , works great , on the water use to sell a great one .
