Nice shop, crappy location... JohnR 01-25-2008, 08:17 AM Nice shop, crappy location... Yep.... Location, location, location Joe 01-25-2008, 08:50 AM Their website was not so good..... bassballer 01-25-2008, 09:14 AM heard the same thing. Also heard they are unloading some serious stock for dirt cheap. Salty 01-25-2008, 09:53 AM Cabelas, Cabelas, Cabelas.:smash: Joe 01-25-2008, 10:02 AM More like a poor choice of business - why open a tackle shop on the way to Foxwoods? I would have opened "Crazy Joe's World O' Vice," sell smokes, booze, books on card counting, have a pawn counter, do payday loans, sell condoms, porno....The stuff people really want. striperman36 01-25-2008, 10:08 AM heard the same thing. Also heard they are unloading some serious stock for dirt cheap. Online or in person? bassballer 01-25-2008, 10:38 AM Online or in person? my fishing partner went down there and bought a new rod and saved $150. Not sure what the online deals are Canalman 01-25-2008, 01:15 PM heard the same thing. Also heard they are unloading some serious stock for dirt cheap. It's pretty much cleaned out... still a lot of soft plastics and some plugs... you can really tell what plugs people like/don;t like by what's left. :laughs: There are quite a few rods left too... it was worth a 170$ trip for me the other day :) Pete F. 01-25-2008, 05:34 PM That was too nice a building to carry as a startup fishing tackle store. And what did they do in the winter? Swimmer 01-25-2008, 05:45 PM More like a poor choice of business - why open a tackle shop on the way to Foxwoods? Cross Current GLX 10 weight for $450. cow tamer 01-26-2008, 01:29 PM Went today. Still some good deals. Spent some to save some. shadow 01-26-2008, 05:55 PM the location was bad, however there cheap price on eels will be the one thing I will miss.Used them to restock my eel tank once a month. Mr. Sandman 01-27-2008, 12:34 PM Wasn't he looking for a business partner to expand? I thought I read in the fishermen or some other mag of this guy looking to expand up the east coast and was looking for an investor.... I think the ad is still in there. The fishing business is a tough business to make a buck in. I know of few shop owners driving around 60' bertam's on the weekends. Most guys get into because the love the field and hope they can make a living at doing something they love (IMO) and hang out with guys that feel the same way. Scale has been the key to making big money but that scale puts a lot of pressure on the local B&T guy who deals with "joe sixpack" on a daily basis who wants a dozen worms a few hooks and a handful of sinkers or maybe one plug . Most fisherman will not pay 20+ bucks for a plug, ever. Hardcore guys like yourself will but most guys just won't. gone fishin 10-21-2008, 07:51 PM Scotty - could be called screw your supplier................ ElSluggo 10-21-2008, 07:53 PM I stopped there twice in the last couple weeks and spent some money. The first time there was a going out of business sale sign and it looked it. The second time they had cut the going out business out of the sign and it read only store sale. I asked and they said they were trying to restructure the business. joe the plumber 10-21-2008, 08:36 PM I thought this guy was closing? They got an ad in the latest Fisherman. Make up ya friggin mind. What is this the latest form of stimulating business or something? :rollem: F-in A Man!I was on my way home tonight and I was thinking exactly the same thing.I think he has been running the going out of buisness sale since August. I feel for anyone trying to make a go of thier buisness [I was self employed 15 years] but this going out of buisness sale is begining to look silly. ivanputski 10-21-2008, 08:38 PM I stopped there in early august and it was already picked through... few wooden plugs left, I picked up a big jointed metal lip fpr 12$... but VERY few plugs left... thought i could get a cheap VS but the reels were wiped out... the guy told me he would be slowly going out of bussiness until the building sold... WoodyCT 10-21-2008, 08:48 PM ... until the building sold... Like that will happen sometime soon. I have some first hand stories I could tell. But, like Salty, it's a small community and there's no sense :deadhorse:. Some folks are their own worst enemies. JohnR 10-22-2008, 06:39 AM Saw on the RISAA list last week owner said they were not closing but would be "bigger and better" I'm thinking not at that location Raven 10-22-2008, 07:03 AM Lord have mercy for the boys down in the .....:faga: Mugz 10-22-2008, 10:28 AM I guess the $50 gift cert. I have for there is junk now....... MakoMike 10-22-2008, 11:21 AM He's had a "going out of business sale" sign out on the road for almost a year now. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
