I'm going to design, manufacture, and market a new fishing accessory to sold under the name "Spot-B-Mine". Easily stored in a tackle box or plug bag, this little gizmo will insure that you don't have to stop casting to breaking fish because some a@@$%^e steals your perch. Just use the simple snap swivel to attach the Spot-B-Mine just above your plug. Then purposefully cast over the muggers line, and watch as the dangling razor blade action swiftly removes his lure from the end of his line. This modern day surfcasting essential will be available in 1\2 oz. and 1 oz. sizes.

What made me think of this? Last night during a nice blitz, there were a few people working from some rocks. I was sharing one particular outcropping with another guy. It was pretty tight, and we had to time our cast a little to avoid getting hung up. Even though we were only like ten feet from one another, it was all good, and we were really getting into some fish. All of a sudden some jerk is right between us, and we can't cast without fouling on him. As we're glaring at him, this ahole lands a 24 inch or so striper, and walks up the rocks. I think that he just wanted an easier place to take the hook out, but...no, this guy's keeping the fish. The other dude looks at me, and we both walk after the guy. By the time we reach him, he's got the fish in a bag with some others. We ask him if he knows that a keeper is twenty eight inches, and he says the fish was just that. "We saw the fish and that was no keeper" we say. He then says he didn't keep it. I immediately take out the cell phone, and call the EP. Guy takes off, and says he'll keep on doing it. I almost slugged him. I almost chucked his rod in the water. However, I merely birthed the idea for the Spot-B-Mine, and it's applications in the world of spot mugging and short taking.

Hmmm - seems to be a lot of this going on during these blitzes of small fish around lately - - Maybe the EP should be doing some overtime over the next few weeks - cruising around to spots and doing some spotchecks ???

Good move ,Don! You did the right thing by calling that jerk in-and showed great manners and restraint! You share a spot and didn't throw his tackle and him in. I'll share my favorite spots and methods with you any time. It's about time people started playing by the rules so there will be better fishing for all of us -and I have no problem with explaining them in a clear and friendly manner. You did the right thing but it's a shame the EP can't make it out to bust these a-holes. It takes alot of restraint not to knock the crap out of them.:gorez:
