After seeing a guy practically kill a schoolie when releasing it, well, then his buddy on the other side of me explains how he get all the big bass from shore. All the way up to 34 inches  ... As he's talking, I see some water moving funny and I cast beyond it, work thru the ripple and I'm on. My little Stradic is protesting on a decent 8-9 # bluefish. Guys start dropping their tall-boys running towards me from both sides and all of the sudden, I have 4 lines criss-crossing my line with 2 plugs getting fouled. I tell the guys not to cast directly on top of me and they did it again anyway. The fish comes unstuck about 10 feet from shore and I was lucky to keep my plug (really lucky as the snap was all bent out of shape and had popped open holding the Gag's Popper). So I'm a little tweaked at this point, but hey, it's only bluefish, right?

Well now there are 6 guys fishing a 40 foot stretch of beach and the guys on the right are casting left and the guys on the left... For those that have fished Cotuit Flats in May, this is not the same thing. Sure the fishing is the same, maybe even better, but the comfort you have in the angler next to you is far better there than fishing in Yahoo Central. I feel comfortable taking ten of our guys here, nearly shoulder to shoulder in that same 40 feet than the 6 guys, of which only one other seemed to know a little about what to do across 400 feet.

So same conditions present itself, these guys are casting, I see some funny water, cast beyond and BANG I'm on again. Then BANG , the lines criss cross again like sappers on a minefield. A couple are winching in their plugs so fast smoke should be coming out of their reels. I told them to slow down so they wouldn't snag up my line and so they may actually get a fish...

Short story, 15 miutes 1 9# blue and one yahoo induced SDR. All between sunset and prime mosquito time... Still left with a grin on my face...

UGGHHHHH!!!!! Clammer, I hear ya brother!!!

8 in a row this morning with friends stopping in to see how the fishing was from time to time. This group seemed to be fairly well behaved, cast out reel in, fish on get out of the way.

Further down the beach was one lonely man banging fish on every cast. With all the short hits I bet a pencil would be the real ticket, those fishing floaters seemed to be hooking up more. Don't need to even see fish, cast and you will get strikes.

I feel like a FREAK fishing for blues with a conventional, but it sure beats getting to work early..............

John, I'm still not clear on why you were casting under those guys lines and if you can't handle your fish and keep them from interupting the other guys' retrieves, maybe you should stay outta the surf.

I think your sarcasm is way out of line.

It was good and bad.

Did alot of fishing... good.
Second week was mostly rained out... bad.

We had fun, but mon, tues, thur and fri of the second week were cold and rainy... we actually came back thursday evening. Plus, it was hard even to enjoy wed knowing that more rain was coming.

The first week was great though. I posted a long report last week.

Lots of blues, some bass on the flats and a couple albies. The flats fishing was really cool and I saw alot of fish. Something I'll get alot better at... the key is that I can see the fish well. I think the main reason I didn't catch more of them was I pulled the lure away from them thinking they wanted it moving. I don't think that's necessarily the case. I saw some really good fish (20lb+)... if I could have had some good conditions the second week, I'd bet I'd have had good shots at a couple bigger fish.

Other than that, got my first 2 albies... they are definitely sweet and the only the jacks I've caught in florida fight like that. They are wild.

I don't know... I'm still wanting my second week back and I'm in a little bit of shock that its October already. Down to a few weeks left... scary.

Karen had another good ultrasound on thurs, so we're thinkin' good thoughts.

Bout wraps things up with me... any good fishing the last couple weeks?

Glad to hear that all's OK...

Not much to personally report for fishing though... They're around and moving thru...
