View Full Version : How about that 52lb 3 oz striper! Slipknot 10-12-2000, 08:34 AM Did any of you read or hear of the leading fish in the derby. I know it was in the boat division but wow what a fish. JohnR 10-12-2000, 08:56 AM Yeh, Buddy Vanderhoop (Tomahawk) was leading with a 44 pounder until that came along... Still have the 42#er leading frm shore... I was fishing not too far from where all thos boat bass were caught (off squibnocket) and all I had were a few hits and one barely legal bass :( ... But 'twould be nice were that MY SHORE FISH with the KEY to the WHALER and TAHOE 8) Got Stripers 10-12-2000, 06:57 PM Nice fish and I'm hoping you get lucky John. I'm also hoping this post doesn't end up in cyber space, since none of my replies have shown up yet tonight. Probably be there tomorrow because this place is just a little weird right now, lol. Good luck with your fish, tight lines. JohnR 10-13-2000, 05:54 AM I would love to get a 50#er, my gut aches whenever I drive/fly/walk past bassy waters - just knowing that maybe, just maybe, I could take a stab at a monster bass RIGHT NOW!!! I wouldn't mind winning those Derby prizes either 8) ... Got Stripers!! I hope it wasn't misleading but, I regret to inform all, that the 42# leading shore bass was not caught by your humble host :( Got Stripers 10-13-2000, 04:18 PM Oh well, you can dream can't you, lol. Maybe you will get your big one on Saturday night. My chances are looking grim for getting down there, too much planned by my better half. Maybe a late drive down just to say hello, but don't hold your breath, tight lines. Marc Z 10-16-2000, 10:21 AM John, I'm a little confused. Are you leading the shore division????? I sure hope so! Marc Z JohnR 10-16-2000, 01:31 PM MarcZ, I wish I was leading... I wish I had caught a striper worth entering but the biggest (only) bass was barely legal... The only comfort I have is that most people didn't even get a keeper from shore... A couple people I know found and fixed large fish (20-37 pounds) and were winning prizes but the bass fishing was pretty lame. To give you an idea, NO flyrod shore bass were weighed in until the last few days of the Derby where only ONE fly-rod shore bass was entered for the entire Derby... I still had a blast and would recommend the Derby to everyone... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
