I posted these a while back and finally got them Xrayed (thanks George). These where found in Norris's old shop in a box of 24 on a shelf. I was wondering if anybody could help to ID these? How do you think he did the tail hanger?

Man those are archaic! All I can say is thank goodness for thru-wire construction! Horrible hook spacing!

Thanks, it's crazy how they did the tail hangers. VB, the hooks are three seperate hooks, sodered together. Does that date the plugs at all?

First off the treble hooks are Auburn Hook Co. hooks from Auburn NY which was eventually sold to Mustad. Those hooks date from the late 40's. I have several boxes of them.

Secondly those plugs were thru drilled top to bottom and then the plug was run length wise over a table saw to a depth of 1/2 an inch on what was the top side forming a groove down thier backs and when the tail was reached the plug was stood on end and the blade cut the groove leaving each side. The wire was put in place for each hanger and epoxied in then selead with filler. Ive seen that before.

A lot of work. Those bodies were painted over. Some Zip-Strip would take that tri-color off to expose the real colors. Like the lead paint showing in the x-ray too.
