ME THREE! Nice Hooper , real nice. Best of luck!!!!! Team Rock On 02-16-2008, 05:35 PM If you register it in MA you will be required to pay sales/use tax. There is an exemption form on this site. If you register it as a commercial fishing boat there is an exemption. http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=dorterminal&L=3&L0=Home&L1=Individuals+and+Families&L2=Programs+%26+Services&sid=Ador&b=terminalcontent&f=dor_personal_st_6&csid=Ador Hooper 02-16-2008, 05:45 PM If you register it in MA you will be required to pay sales/use tax. Team Rock On 02-16-2008, 06:00 PM You have to fill out a form that states, under the penalties of perjury, that the boat will be used for commercial fishing only. I think you have to register it as a commercial vessel , and of course insure it commercially too. If you do document it, you will be required to pay a "use" tax of 5%(I screwed up my last post). This happened to us about 5 years ago when we bought a documented boat with no title from a MA resident . They wouldn't give us a title until they could locate the past owner and get the use tax he never paid. ProfessorM 02-16-2008, 07:11 PM Beautiful boat. I am not familiar with it. What are the specifics if you don't mind, like size, manufacturer, etc. GattaFish 02-16-2008, 07:20 PM Sweet boat,,,,, Hooper 02-16-2008, 08:06 PM Beautiful boat. I am not familiar with it. What are the specifics if you don't mind, like size, manufacturer, etc. Prof. M- Thank you.... It's a 28' Seaworthy. The hull was originally a BHM 28 but it's my understanding that at some point the mold was bought by a fellow, Steve Law who now builds them under this new name in Arundel, Maine if I am not mistaken. Most of them seem to get a Yanmar 315 which seems to be the perfect match for this hull, 18 kt cruise is about right. This one has a 63 series 370hp Volvo, I was told the original owner wanted a bigger engine... They are now being marketed by NE Yachts and they seem to be doing a good job promoting them. But, you have to want a downeast boat. It's not gonna run at 30 kts, It's a single engine. They handle best running 18 or so. Not for everyone, but they are sure great to fish this area. ProfessorM 02-16-2008, 09:32 PM Thank you. Great lines. Wish you the best with it. macojoe 02-17-2008, 04:18 AM Awsome boat Hooper!! Congrats! May states ( RI and NY among them) require a documented boat to be registered wit the state. Different reg than what is required of undocumented boats and lesser fees. Then they get you for the sales tax when you go to register the boat. Hooper 02-18-2008, 09:09 AM Congrats!
