View Full Version : Anyone?
tattoobob 02-15-2008, 06:09 PM Does anyone have Comcast internet, phone , and Cable?
I am getting knocked off the internet when the phone rings and the whole time the phone is active, Is this normal?
Definitely not normal. Not sure what would cause this. Call them, they should know. I'm sure it will be fun.....it always is.
BassDawg 02-15-2008, 06:17 PM I just got hooked up to their bundle, and
was having a similar frequent disconnect problem.
Check the modem to see if it's on standby (bottom yellow light only), or if it has 4 greens and a yellow (pc activity) top to bottom.
Even when all the lights are on, i'll get some sporadic disconnects
Good luck, Bob hope this helps?
tattoobob 02-15-2008, 06:27 PM It's a brand new modem, and the guy who came out to install it was a moron
MikeToole 02-15-2008, 07:48 PM Had the service for two years, never had that type of problem. They do have exceptionally good help service over the phone'
fishbones 02-15-2008, 08:54 PM I have the bundle and can't stand it. Comcast has absolutely the worst customer service anywhere.:fury: Our phone (digital service) has not been able to receive incoming calls for 4 days now. This also happened last month. I called the first day and they said they'd fix it. Today I called them again and they said the service ticket was cancelled.....by them.:smash: They didn't even call to check with us. Someone is supposed to come out on Tuesday. Since we went with the digital phone, we've had problems with the phone a few times and it also screwed up our alarm system. Then we had to pay for the alarm company to come out and tell us it was Comcast's fault. On top of all this, we are having problems with the cable tonight. Oh, and I have to reset my computer modem about every 3 weeks because I lose the internet connection for my desktop. I can't wait for Verizon Fios to be available in my town.
ProfessorM 02-15-2008, 08:59 PM Had for a year or two and never a problem, but we have FIOS on my street so they better make me a better deal before I sign up again

If you have wireless phones in the house that use 2.4 GHz, they can shut you're internet off when they ring, especially if you're using wireless internet.
If this is you're problem, replace them with a 5.8 GHz phone and your problem will go away. It happened to me.

gone fishin 02-15-2008, 09:15 PM Bob don't you have FIOS in your town? are you going to plugfest tomorrow?
tattoobob 02-15-2008, 09:19 PM I have to work tomorrow, I would have loved to have gone but I need money more
I hate Verizon and I am not sure
pbadad 02-15-2008, 09:22 PM I've had the internet phone sevice for 2 yrs. When it was first installed I had BS every week. They came out and tried new modems, new cable connectors, replaced the cable from the pole , signal booster etc. By the time the holidays arrived which was 1 month still trouble. When the phone went out no out going calls, sometime incoming only. Wife got fed up wanted the old phone service back. I called comcast and finally got to speak to a field rep. He personally came out with a tech and troubleshoot the problem. Still NADA. I casually mentioned that the common denominator with the problem seemed when the wind blew. they went up on the pole and check the pole connections. They found corroded connectors. They replaced the connectors and all is well. They told me because the old phone system was analog and it didn't have to be that critical to have super clean connections. The added resistance from the corrosion was the reason digital phone service was intermittent. I figure I would give you my problem solver. Maybe this can help you out. Good luck.
tattoobob 02-15-2008, 09:27 PM Well my wife has been dealing with them, and not to step on her toes and start a fight between us I have kinda been staying out of it, but when she is on the phone for a half hour it kinda bothers me.
I am going to call them tomorrow and have a talk with them

We just bought a 14 dollar phone Saturday, and that's when it started, good call (get it)

Thats tipical wuth them and if you call you get someone in india I think. I've been living at the new house for about 4 months and we still call them atleast once a week
fishonnelsons 02-16-2008, 07:54 AM We have the package and I would say Comcast sucks. We are at the end of the line - so they tell us to spend more $$$ to boost the power - more than $175/month after the 1 year deal???
At times our phones will just disconnect as you are talking to someone, my "wireless" that they put in can't signal further than 25 ft (even with brand new computer, few doors/wall's), and On-Demand movie selection tain't the best.
Everytime something happens I call and bitch, tell them to credit my bill - which they do - a day here and there adds up to a six pack.
mackerel hunter 02-16-2008, 03:22 PM Had comcast cable and internet for about 5 years, they were a disaster
both in service and public relations. Even when you terminated their service and passed in the equipment at the service center they treated you like s---. Get Verizon and deal with a class act!
Adam_777 02-16-2008, 03:51 PM Sometimes has to do with a filter they forgot to put on the line .

Ya, that's probably where the problem lies. I have Comcast internet and I have a wireless connection. It's the same GHz as the older/cheaper wireless phones.
When the phone rings, the internet shuts off.
5.8 GHz is the answer. Haven't had a problem since I replaced the 2.4phone.

mackenzie 02-16-2008, 06:23 PM We have the bundle. No problems yet. As soon as we switched we got all kinds of deals from Verizon. If they wanted to keep us as customers they should hav e offered the deals before we had the chance to change. One unforeseen problem with Comcast phone service could be that if you lose power you lose your phone. Forced to get a cell. Bin resisting up till now.
TheSpecialist 02-16-2008, 08:55 PM My question is hy would anyone get phone service from a company that can't even give you trouble free, reliable tv service??
Most if not all wireless routers work on 2.4Ghz. So do many garage door openers, cordless phones, baby monitors etc. It is just the nature of the beast with wireless. You are bound to have interfernce of some sort, at one time or another.
Comcast phone is a Voip, not a true phone, and they have plenty of problems with it. My parents have it, one time my mother was talking to her sister on the phone. My aunt asked my mother if her tv picture was messed up? My mother looked at her tv, and it was tiling. She asked my aunt how she knew, and my aunt told her that she was coming though staticy.
Also why would you rely on them for 911. 911 is a proprietary system developed by the phone companies years before cable offered phone. That means that all of the E911 equipment in the police, and fire stations is maintained by the phone company. Guess what, cable has no access to it. They may have some sort of system in place, but it is not a direct connection.
Anywho we will all be fishing soon...:btu:
fishbones 02-17-2008, 07:53 AM Hopefully a new phone will solve your problem, Tattoobob. The Comcast service guy (most of them ar contractors) came over yesterday and fixed my phone problem. Nice guy and very professional. He figured out my problem in a second and told me how to fix it myself next time. All that needed to be done was to reset the modem. I have to do that all the time for the computer anyways, so no big deal. I'm still p.o.'d that it needs to be done at all, though. I told the guy about my cable problem and asked if we could get a new box. He switched the cable box out without a question. I'm still going to switch to Verizon when it's available, but at least the guy I dealt with yesterday was great compared to all the other bozo's Comcast has sent over in the past.
HESH2 02-17-2008, 09:11 AM have had comcast for like 2 years bundled package and no problems.don't have verizone in my area, but son has it in his area vios verizon said it is great all fiber optic cables.had to call comcast because of my screw ups with computor, got local people who helped me through issues.

And people are suposed to find this acceptable? If you bought a car and the car would'nt start all the time, and the mechanic told you to take the battery out and put it in to reset it would you go for that as well?
That what you get for technicians, that have no clue.
