View Full Version : Dead lures
Tattoo 10-07-2002, 01:10 PM If you had to have a lure to fish with that they didnt make anymore, or was hard to get, what would it be?
Giant Creek Chub Pikie?
Jointed Danny?
Floyd Roman Nike?
5 1/4oz Gibbs Pencil?
Masterlure Eel?
Me personally wouldn't mind finding a mother load of Jointed Danny's.
tlapinski 10-07-2002, 01:36 PM jointed danny's....... i have about a dozen 2.5oz in the package.... :bshake:
Blacksheep 1 10-07-2002, 01:47 PM Hey Toby, When did you start throwing that crap
tlapinski 10-07-2002, 01:59 PM how can i throw them, if they are still in the package.... :smash:
tlapinski 10-07-2002, 02:00 PM p.s. - stay away from MY ebay items!:behead:
Krispy 10-07-2002, 02:16 PM I have a bunch of the Beachmaster jointed Danny's, 2.5oz
chris L 10-07-2002, 02:51 PM if ya want to get rid of any of them plugs guys . I have some room for them ! Tlapinski what do ya go by on ebay ?
Mike P 10-07-2002, 02:55 PM Gibbs darters without the stepped head.
Gibbs bottles with the old-style heads.
Sinking 3-1/2 oz Polarises (they "swam" better on a slow retrieve).
The 5-1/4 oz pencils were more of a niche item, for the Canal. I'd rather have them bring back the "Canal Special" now that the Hawg-man has passed on, if it was a choice of one or the other. The Canal Special was a 7" pencil popper that had a flat, planed bottom and a little extra weight at the rear for a better cast. They weighed 3-1/8 oz rather than the 2-3/4 oz standard 7" PP.
Since I live in Beachmaster territory, I don't miss the jointed Danny, jointed Pikie or even the Atom 40 that much.
jeffsod 10-07-2002, 03:48 PM Hawg Hunter Canal Special for those 'breaking tides' at the big ditch.
Canalratt1 10-07-2002, 06:43 PM The old Gibbs plugs made by Gibbs himself! I was very partial to the larger Polaris and pencils includeing the 5 1/4 oz.
bloocrab 10-07-2002, 07:14 PM Jointed Danny????
Slipknot 10-07-2002, 10:14 PM 1. needles by Tony Stetzko Sr. , any color
2. creek chub wooden giant pikie
3. heddon flaptail
4. Habs custom needles ;)
Tattoo 10-08-2002, 05:59 AM What about the Capt'n Bills Casting Popper? 7inch MONSTER.
Anyone every toss one into the suds?
Slipknot 10-08-2002, 07:39 AM I made a couple of those Tattoo, they catch bluefish but I'm sure they would get stripers in the canal now.
I made some small captain bills swimmers for nor_easter and he got a bass over 40 on it with the plug standing up inside the mouth and just a barb sticking in the tongue  he released it since it did not drown.
I'd add those to my list , large popper, small swimmer and large swimmer. Capt. Bills work well. Also Atom p-40
MarkL 10-08-2002, 11:24 AM Creek Chub Giant Pikie.
tlapinski 10-08-2002, 02:59 PM what ever happened to this little guy?????
tlapinski 10-08-2002, 02:59 PM also, how about one of these!
Fishpart 10-08-2002, 03:08 PM Interesting skin plug. Are those hooks held on with cotter pins?
tlapinski 10-08-2002, 03:15 PM actually, it is not a skin plug. the lure is retreived to the left. it is a Norris Jet Squid. by the way, if anyone has one just "laying" around, i have a place reserved on the wall for it!
wahlie 10-08-2002, 03:41 PM I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of the flaptail or giant pikie... That and the thinner profiled goo goo swimmers. they look so nice in the water.
Slipknot 10-08-2002, 05:04 PM I have a squid plug but no one will ever get it from me.:p
Me thinks Tattoo is scheeming something here ;)
bloocrab 10-08-2002, 05:17 PM nah....he ain't smart enough to scheme :smash:

Mike P 10-12-2002, 12:12 PM T. Lapinski, your photo of that reverse-style squid plug reminded me of another lure that sadly is now dead--the Reverse Atom.
I'm pretty sure Smoker discontinued it, along with the big "40" swimmer, when they bought Bob Pond out.
TheSpecialist 10-12-2002, 02:11 PM Hey BM I just got a duplicator....... Make all winter fish all summer.:D
