Been framing third floor and deck on the water. Effin wind has been brutal this week....Dehydrates me fast. One more day of that this week, and even if it's colder, at least the wind swings to the NW... Then I'm going inside to gut and redo a bathroom. Thank God.... Come on summer...

I have a saying in my shop.
"nothing works in here under 70 degrees..... including ME"
I work in a t shirt all year long..

well, that does suck but, at least you can get outside. Sitting at a desk all day ain't to fun either.

Days on the road a fewer now that everything is remote.

I was a roofer for 8years

I would take a 90 degree summer day over a -10 day on a roof...

At least in teh summer you can hope for a cool breeze in the winter thats all you get....

Did that for 32yrs. Almost everyone of those winters was spent outside in the snow, ice, and rain. It will take it's toll on your body, especially hands and knees. solution: change job; take winters off; marry into money; hit lottery; cry a lot!! :confused: :tooth: :confused:

Just retired after 37 years in construction. I don't miss the cold weather one bit. Heat was bad but cold was much worse.

Well, got the rim joists hung this morning... 2x10 PT, 16 footers, all frozen to boot.... This afternoon we just got all the heavy sheets of 3/4 PT plywood to lift up to the third floor.... But we're working when many are not.

Definitely a mistake sitting down for a sandwich and sign in here.... I don't feel like moving now.

Yea i know what you mean. winter is a b itch. Thunder, lightning and rain last night, 54 this morning expect 70 high. Actually had to put long sleeves on last night.:rolleyes: But we dont have to shovel sunshine. That being said i will envy you from late May through early September. Triple digits. Try to Imagen 115 in the shade and anything under that is a cold snap. Thats why i work indoors.

Even though I drive a SEMI I unload my Tanker in all types of weather conditions I've been in - 40 to summer conditions .
I've been in construction all my life from throwing TRASH in BROCTON ,MA Framing, Masonary< Driving forever
I love the cold & the heat, can't work indoors feel like I'm Cooped UP

Used to work outside in the 70's for five years as a surveyer. Not being able to move around standing next to the transit all day certainly had its drawbacks. One time on the Vineyard its was 5 friekin degrees and blowing a steady 40 m.p.h., and I couldn't move away from the transit which was perched in the middle of the road by the big bridge. That day I promised myself I wuld never again be that cold. Crew chief was an animal, could stand any weather. I feel for you Ross. It doesn't getting any easier the older you get either.
