Picked up a new brush on Fleabay and had to attempt some detail work. The brush is called an Air Pro PS905, and so far I think it's a bargain at $40.

Dad Fisherman, I don't know who makes them. They are probably made in China by some knock off company. I may order a few extra needles from them just in case they aren't around long. Here's a link to the company that sells them on Fleabay.

Back in the 60's I saw plugs that looked like that at times if you listen to the Doors at the right speed.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Nothing special about my technique really. I just cut some little curve templates out of a piece of photo paper and some acetate sheets that we used to use to make transparencies with, and used them to lay down some curved shapes over a black background. I started with some createx red as a base "flame" shape, then some orange and yellow here and there. I then sprayed on some transparent orange and then some white highlights. I sprayed transparent yellow over everything to turn the white yellow, then top coated with Devcon. A lot of the painting I just did free hand just to get the feel of this new brush The advantage of this small needle and gravity feed is that you can lay down light coats and pretty fine lines. I will try to get some photos of the templates tomorrow, but you will be surprised how simple they really are. Trust me, I am no artist. I had just seen some of the tru fire templates on the air brush supply web sites, made some cheap simple knock-offs and spent some time playing with them. Give it a try!

Thanks again.

Looks like a nice detail brush. It's 65.00$ on the site link.. Where did you see it for $40.00 and the free hose offer? Is the 2mm the tip necessary to do fine lines and dots? I'm using a Harbor Freight China made air brush. Get this, only $15.00 and dual action. Works fine for most jobs. I just would like a gravity model with a finer tip for detail. I think the Harbor brush is 5mm. They offer a 3 & 4 mm size also. It's a vacuum style jar and 2cc cup. I think I need this one.

Still holding up after a year of use. I did order some replacement needles and nozzles just in case. I just replaced a nozzle the other day because I broke the original one by over tightening it. Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend it to anyone who wants a decent detail brush without having to spend a couple hundred bucks for an Iwata. Here are a few recent paint jobs.
