This newpaper photo of a hook in some fishermans eye (during the derby) may cause some discomfort to those that can relate.

Worst I ever had was a plug burried into the back of my head. Luckily my dad was nice enough to say "Don't Move" right before he ripped it out. Luckily he did it right after the thing whacked me in the head to minimize the pain......or so he says.

I had one go thru my upper eye-lid and not touch my eye...scared the **** out of me. (and when it happened I was standing way the hell out on SW point (BI) I don't know if you have ever "walked" out there but it is something akin to walking on greased cannon balls.

who got stuck on some eel grass with a 2oz. smilin bill. He pulled and pulled and the lead head nailed him right on his forehead, he was walking around about with a serious bruise.

the article says about 20% of all sports related eye injurys are from fishing. (second only to baseball). I think there is a market for protective glasses here...

I've nailed my brother-in-law a couple times over the years, both with lead head jigs. He's had a sense of humor about it, but both times he was hurting bad.

I've seen another picture like this with an even smaller fly- the surgeon had to wear magnifiers to remove it. Its why I allways wear some kind of glasses when I'm fly fishing, especially at night. I've heard that a 4/0 Deciever hits 50+ mph on a double haul - stings like hell when you hit yourself.
