View Full Version : FOX Sux.....
STEVE IN MASS 10-13-2002, 12:20 PM Got the radio on, and watching the game with the sound turned down, as I usually do.....
What is with the TV delay?....I mean, there's usually a second or two with Channel 4, but with FOX, Brady still hasn't gotten the snap, and Gil Santos is saying "Complete!"......
It's gotten a bit better in the last few minutes, but still....
Slipknot 10-13-2002, 12:46 PM Steve, I think it's just the TV's in Foxboro, the signal has to travel too far and then back to you so it must just be you :p
they don't look too sharp BTW, hope it picks up a bit.
Duke41 10-13-2002, 01:44 PM So far we have a new player Joe Andretti and GB coach went to Southern Ct State not Central Ct. You woukd think that Collingsworth would want to prepare for a game. :smash:

STEVE IN MASS 10-13-2002, 02:34 PM Change that "FOX" to "Pat's"......
What are they doing.....we need about ten of these.....:smash: on the sidelines for every guy that get's a yellow flag!.....
fishsmith 10-13-2002, 02:44 PM I'm with you Steve, I was doing the same thing, Gino would call pass complete(this was much earlier in the game) and then I'd see the play. Pretty weak on fox's part. I wish the Simpsons would change stations.
STEVE IN MASS 10-13-2002, 03:23 PM 13 PENALTIES!!!!!.......aaggghhh....ya, a few were questionable.....but the rest were just STUPID......:af:
A Fox anchor is a personal friend of mine...I agree with this thread's consensus about their sports coverage though.
fishsmith 10-14-2002, 09:56 AM I emailed bcn's bill abbate about this, here is his reply:
The synchronization is becoming more difficult as the televised image continues to b delivered in different ways. There is a slight delay in the actual on air signal, a further delay if you have cable and an even greater delay if you have satelite. It all involves the amount of up and downlinking of satelite dishes, receivers and the like. BCN tries to sync up with the regular on air broadcast since it is not all that far off from cable. Satelite viewers will always receive a signal that is considerably more behind.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

STEVE IN MASS 10-14-2002, 10:24 AM Fishsmith and JPL.....I found it to get better as the game went on....the worst was about the first 15 minutes (real time, not game-time)....
One thing I noticed....as the opening kick-off was lining up (on the radio, anyway), Fox still was running commercials. As they kept coming, I thought to myself..."Gee, are they gonna cut to the game to at least show the kick off being caught?".
So, I started to wonder if they weren't using some kind of TIVO, or whatever you call it, technology over the next 20 minutes to try and catch up with the action.....just a thought.
As I said, by the end of the first quarter, it seemed to have caught up.
I have ATT Broadband Cable, BTW.....
STEVE IN MASS 10-14-2002, 10:25 AM Duke, he wasn't the only one.....the others had their share.....
If it wasn't for the penalties (admittiedly, some were weak calls, especially some of the interference calls), it would have been a whole different game.
