It depends on the look you are trying to achieve:

the old school look is large glitter hand applied, one method to apply this type is to use a squeeze bottle w/ a tube top(kinda like a straw) when you squeeze the bottle it blows the glitter on the plug this worked great for me & puts it on uniformly, using oil based paint helps since the paint does not dry fast, it gives the glitter something to stick to.

What I use now is a very fine glitter. You can buy this silver glitter in a spray at walmart it is in the crafts dept, it works very good.
I always clearcoat after I spray the glitter, krylon also sells different color spray glitters, green, red, gold, silver, multi color. Hope this helps,
also if anyone knows where I can buy blue spray glitter I would greatly appreciate it. :btu:

Saltydog - you can apply the glitter many ways. How heavy is personal preferance. I like the real fine diamond dust glitter - you can mix it in with your epoxy It comes in colors also. It doesn't leave bumps in the finish.

Never been able to find a blue spray either, but Powderz makes an extremely fine

blue glitter that goes on as smooth as any spray when mixed with your clear coat.
