Some of you may have already heard, but long-time member Skitterpop has been ill for quite some time now, and as a result has fallen on some hard times. Mike has been battling Diabetes for a few years and it has left him unable to work and support himself and his wife Karin. If anyone of you knows someone with Diabetes, then you know how debilitating it can be. I don't know Mike outside of the site, but I do know he has been very helpful and generous on many occasions to many people, including myself. When others are in need he is always one of the first to donate, even when he could use the extra cash.

So with that said, I would like to get an auction up and running to help Mike cover some of his medical costs. If anyone would like to donate plugs or send a check to Mike I know he would be greatly appreciative. If we could get some of the builders to throw in some goodies that would be fantastic! You can PM me for my address to send the plugs to. I will take pics when I receive them then post them on here in separate auction threads. I can also give you Mike's address if you would just prefer to send him a check directly. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or ask in this thread.

I know Mike is embarrassed about his situation and would never ask for help, but he is one of the good guys and I think we should help him the best we can. Thanks for your support!

forgot to add: got the Bossman's approval on this :hihi:

I'm going to hunt around and figure out something really good. At least equivalent of a new reel or rod, may be in the form of some pluggage

Maybe we can also have some fun and make someone moderator for a day in a goofy (non destructive) sort of way :bl::lasso:

An almost new Abu 6500C3. Spooled with red PowerPro 50#.

I bought it new at Boaters World last Sept and used it on my boat twice. Never even been wet

Skitter was nice to me regarding something I'll not go into but I would like to repay his kindness.

Bart, let me know how to handle this. Auction, outright sale. PM me.

Bart here:

Auction: A tuna trip for 2 people in August, September, or October with me on my boat. I will take care of the bait, gas, etc. You take home all the fish I'll even cut it up for you. All you have to do is enjoy the day and hopefully reel in charlie tuna. No trips during the full moon because the fishing sucks. We will fish east of Chatham and leave early and return in the afternoon sometime. We will agree on a date that is good for all of us. Bid it up high for a good cause. If we dont catch a tuna fish I will take you out again on me. -Matt

Sorry, I don't think I was quite clear with my initial response. That's kind of what I was thinking MIke, smaller separate auctions, except hopefully there won't be just one bid for each of the items. :) But I'm open to other ideas as well, anything that will get Skitter the most money. I'm just waiting for some of the stuff to get here before I start posting auction threads.

John- that is very generous of you. Thank you very much. :kewl:

Matt(keeperreapper)- Wow, what can I say. That is one hell of a contribution. If anyone doesn't know by now, Matt is a tuna master. He will definitely put you on fish. Lets really try and raise some good money for this one.

Thanks again everyone and keep the donations coming! Even if you don't have anything to contribute you could always throw in a couple bucks to help me ship all this stuff out when I get it.

Thanks again!

Hey Everyone-
I think that we are all set with donations at this point. If you would still like to make a donation you can mail Mike a check/MO directly, I can give you his information. I know that some people just sent out a few goodies as of yesterday so obviously I will post them and any other donation I receive as as they arrive. I still have a couple items here that I need to put up as well.

I just want to thank everyone here on S-B who either bid or donated in some way. I know from speaking with Mike, your contributions have really helped him out a lot. Once the auctions are over, I will figure out how much money we raised and write a more thorough synopsis of this whole experience. Thanks once again to everyone who helped out! :kewl:
