I planted a new lawn about ten years ago. When I mow I thought I sucked up all the cut grass, wrong. My tractor has a triple bagger. I emptied it seven times vacuuming up the dead grass the thatchers scaped up. I could believe it. In the front yard the dead grass had to be 3" of 4" thick after I was done. I would imagine not much of the fertilizer I put down ever even made it through the old grass to the dirt. Looking forward to better rresults.
