Is it broken?

Even if it isn't you might want to tape it to your middle finger. The support will help quite a bit, though it might make flipping the bird a bit awkward :hee:

no dont think its broken. I think I smacked it so many times yesterday its numb!

Seriously feeling much better today. Not throbbing, swelling is going down and not as purple looking.

Just dont touch the nail :fury:

That's not fun at all. You may need to get the pressure relieved from under the nail.

I use a small needle or a tiny drill bit to go thru my nail to releive the pressure.I've managed to save the nail a few times and other times I've lost it.I'm a mechanic so it's happened to me a few more times than I like to admit.I'd imagine you could fill the hole with nail polish or something after draining the blood. Not fun either way.Takes a while for them suckers to grow out.I'm sure Raven will have a concoction to help your nail grow faster.

I've had to do that with the drill bit as well. Best to hold it with some small pliers and heat the bit up very hot, then let it burn through the nail.

:rotflmao: yeah gross but if you don't want the pain from the pressure and the gross purple nail. It's been a while and hoping it never happens again. The heat on the drill bit does work also funny I thought I was the only one who did that still.

Oh yeah , been there , done that and yes , feeling sick to your stomach is what happens. I also could not believe how mashed it looked but eventually it went back to normal.

Sorry Jenn.

Oh yeah forgot that part. I have used the pin to poke a hole and let the presuure out but you may have to do it about 3 times a day for a few days. The hole actually heals up if its just pinhole size. i suppose a drilled hole would be bigger but also you have a big hole to get yuk into. the pin hole heals and seals itself to some extent.

One time I caught all four fingers between two 6 foot diameter wire spools. Oh man that hurt. In addition to feeling sick , I remember i kept wanting to kneel down No idea why but that was the sensation I was getting. I think it may have been instict to get low in case I pased out.

Yeeeooowww!

You guys must give yourself stitches too when you have suffered a bad cut.

on an un-smashed finger there's a half moon coloration of white or a lighter color than the rest of your finger nail...

that is small or large depending on how good your circulation is...

if they are crescent moons you might wanna take an old salt shaker
and fill it with cayenne pepper and start using it to spice up some meals

as cayenne pepper is the best remedy to increase circulation naturally.

other than that ...........the regular grow faster nail formula at the super market is hard to beat...

i have to wonder Jenn , and i'm so sorry to hear of your OWIE

if when you close a car door you have your hand and fingers on or near the outer edge when you close it... thus putting your fingers in a dangerous proximity to getting pinched.

have you ever - closed a car door not wanting it to be heard - and kinda doing the push fast , while half latched, click it closed method

well thats the only way to do it robotically so both hands are being used...
you have to radically change up your method of habbit ............
so this is the last time this ever happens.

except that you shut it from around an inch away instead...

heal up fast...

Raven! You are too funny! No it was more like too many things on my mind and the next thing I knew the tip of my finger felt restrained! then pinched... So my first and only reaction was to yank my hand back and yes the door closed all the way so I was literally ripping the already squished fingertip through that tiny space....:yak5:

Funny that most of the purple has gone away from under the nail but the "pressure" feeling is still there????

You probably broke the tip. Tape half a popsicle stick to it for a coupla weeks, worked for me.
I've managed to break a finger and give myself a black eye with car doors...

I've managed to break a finger and give myself a black eye with car doors...

Glad to hear I am not the only one who can pull off these wonderfull acts of clumsiness!

I really didnt think I broke it because I can do most things with it still with only minimal pain but then I will hit it "just right" and yeee0oooowwww.......so now you have me wondering.....its definately under the nail area so I am hoping the nail acts like a bit of support...
