This is the Pencil Popper that angler aims at GT by short pumping by the rod work. Short pumping theory is based on inviting a fish by light popping of the lure which will occur if rod tip is raised and angler do small action of the rod. Since air resistance is small, the long cast is possible.

Length=25cm (10")
Weight=130g (4.6oz)

just surfing, working, came across this, weight placement, any reason for it being there an NOT INSIDE:conf:

Could be that because of the taper at the tail, it is too thin to drill for the weight.

Looks like the tail weight could not provide enough weight at the very tail of the plug, hence the visible weight. Good idea , tho not to pretty, maybe would look better if painted.:uhuh:

as i see it its a reverse plug

since squid swim backwards

it's to simulate them diving by

having the weight there

That's how I made my first pencil popper. I don't think it would make any difference if the weight is inside or outside.

Is that one of the fisherman long pens? Theyre built like that on purpose, I think its for ease of building just add the egg like you would add a tail grommet.
