View Full Version : Let's Help Out Guys
teaser 04-26-2008, 01:27 PM As many of you know Raven has been having quite the downward spiral lately and it hasn't gotten any better for him. Many of us here (including myself) don't know him personally but do enjoy his photoshop antics and conversation on this board, I am fairly new to the board and haven't been here for years as many of you have and I've seen you guys reach out to help other members in trouble before. Maybe you builders could sacrifice a few plugs in the classified and forward the funds over to him or even though times are hard everywhere maybe some members could send a few bucks, it all adds up.
Anyone who's ever owned a dog knows that they are mans best friend and depend on us for everything from food and shelter to kindness and affection, our pets give us so much joy and they ask for nothing in return but our attention. I don't make plugs that I could sell but I can offer a few bucks to help the man and his dog out and I hope many of you on this site will too.
I was going to buy a new rod but the ones I have still catch fish and this money is more useful here so I'll start this out with $100.00 and hope more can contribute to help out a fellow member and his dog, any amount will help and will be deeply appreciated I'm sure.
Thanks guys and tight lines! :kewl:
ProfessorM 04-26-2008, 05:45 PM I was thinking the same thing after his last PM to me yesterday. Felt I had to do something to help him out. Craig is truly stuck between a rock and a hard place. I will match your your contribution. You want me to send it to you so you can gather it up and send to him?
nightfighter 04-26-2008, 08:32 PM Yup, count me in for a contribution to The Star Fund.
Someone just post an address. And maybe for any of those who might want to send a check, how to make payable to...
Duke41 04-26-2008, 09:11 PM He is a good %$%$%$%$ I am for 50
BigFish 04-26-2008, 09:26 PM I don't have any spare cash, but I will paint up a few "special" plugs this week and put them up for auction! I will post the auction items when finished! Raven is A-O-K with me......and I am after all a dog lover!:tooth:
This would be better served in the main forum also......so if a mod could place it there.....that might be great!
Clammer 04-26-2008, 11:17 PM The man is a great guy & he looks nowhere near what ya would expect ;;
just tell me / what./ where &
when ><><
I,ve got P/P ready to go if it helps ;;:agree:
Adam_777 04-27-2008, 09:42 AM I'm pulling an inventory and seeing if I have any gear worth selling for a good contribution. If not I can sneak some loot by old hawkeye if I'm careful enough.
Raven 04-27-2008, 10:50 AM i am overwhelmed with emotion
today's the Wife's Birthday and
we are just trying to cope with
taking care of our little Star-zy
as she's (becki's ) fond of calling her...
and i'm trying to get out and plant potatoes
and broccoli today... while she's home
since it's gonna rain for the next two weeks.
here's a Narley pic of her injury
and as i mentioned on the "skinned alive"
post she's had to go thru the surgery twice now
and hopefully this one will heal up better.
we thank you very much for your support
and kindness from the bottom of our hearts.

Happy Bday to the wife.My better half's was yesterday.
Our pets are truly part of us and our families. Some people think "its just an animal" but to many including myself they're part of our lives and when something happens to a part the whole is affected.
BigFish 04-27-2008, 11:35 AM Holy Crap!!! You weren't kidding!!! She was skinned alive! Hope she is on the mend!
Cranium 04-27-2008, 01:31 PM raven, hope she gets better, That looks like a hell of a wound. I will donate some plugs in the near future for auction. Let me see what I can find.
teaser 04-27-2008, 02:25 PM Hi guys I just wanted to post this quick note about where to send the funds being donated to Raven, he's opening up a paypal account and should have access to it after Monday so the funds will go directly to him there. The paypal information will be posted here as soon as it's available and thanks for joining in and helping out.
Raven, I saw the pics you posted of Star, one word of caution about the shirt ... good idea on using the shirt to keep her from getting at the area but definately switch to a plain white t-shirt, the dye from that shirt could start something up you don't want to happen.
Tight lines to one and all.
afterhours 04-27-2008, 04:00 PM i'll kick in a couple of plugs to help star and shaman.
Squid kids Dad 04-27-2008, 05:01 PM I will send a check also... A toast to Star
Squid kids Dad 04-27-2008, 06:28 PM Maybe one of the Mods could move this thread to the main forum???..I think it would do a lot better there...
Raven 04-28-2008, 08:33 AM as per Teasers recommendation
i set up a pay pal account for those of you
who would like to help Becki and i .. with
Stars medical expenses
not sure exactly how it works
but the email address i used for
the verified pay pal account is
countryraven@gmail.com
basically we had to say
SCREW the mortgage for April
we're saving our dog... even if we loose the farm
the medical expenses are now approaching $2000 :hs:
and they collect them up front before they'll even look at your
injured animal....
and a heartfelt thanks to all ..... for your contributions
the first surgery failed :af:
the second one seems to be working -thank god...
when you don't have kids and cannot have kids..
your lovable dog "is" your surrogate child
MarshCappa 04-28-2008, 09:36 AM I'll keep an eye out for the auction items the next few days. How does the paypal thing work? I can't even imagine the horror of having to deal with that type of injury, it is a blessing she is still here. She is one strong dog. Let's all pray she makes a strong recovery with no complications.

.
Noted and good Point Steve... :kewl: these are really old ,washed a hundred times shirts but we will go find three white ones just in case.
i change them and wash them every three hours in rotation.
the discharge of fluids...*drainage ...is becoming less and less
instead of more and more like from the first operation...
and thats a very good sign... the stretchy tube sock bandage the vet gave us wasn't doing the job so we had to improvise

i'm just learning about PAY pal myself John...
basically you set up the free account
they deposit two small amounts in your bank account
less than 25 cents
then you verify those amounts and the account is all set up
then you have a third party "safe way" to transfer funds
by clicking my on email address
MarshCappa 04-28-2008, 11:47 AM Paypal sent. I'll keep an eye out for auction items.
BassDawg 04-28-2008, 01:34 PM Hey, Raven!
sorry to hear about Star's misfortunes.
two operations, YUUUUK! here's hoping the best and
healthiest of recoveries for your "kid". she looks like a tough old girl.
God's Speed, and i'll keep an eye out for the auctions, or
i prolly have some plugs i could donate. what is the best way to facillitate the auctioniung of the pluggage? is there someone i should send sum pix to?
Raven 04-28-2008, 01:59 PM Hey, Raven!
i prolly have some plugs i could donate. what is the best way to facillitate the auctioning of the pluggage? is there someone i should send sum pix to?
thanks BassDawg! those details are still being worked out.
they'll be posted as soon as it all gets figured out ASAP
until then:
keep it in mind that these deadly boundary marker stakes
are every where
and they are accidents waiting to happen...
BassDawg 04-28-2008, 02:08 PM i hear ya my brother.................
i think that i found one last year on the way to Sachuest, last summer.
fortunately, all that it cost me was a new tire on my fishmobile, still sucked that it was invisible until i "found it" with my tire. there certainly should be a better way to indicate them sharp bastages!!! why not a flag, or paint, or roped off?
All our best to Star and Becki and you, m'man!!
bobby 04-28-2008, 03:14 PM My name is Bob and in January I purchased SurfHog Lure Co. I would like to donate some new products to help out Raven. The new products are some new flavors. First is the 8.5" Codnary eel, it is canary yellow and flavored with cod liver oil. The second is an 8.5" natural eel also flavored with cod liver oil. These are both brand new and not available anywhere else. Please start bidding or IM me as to where to send them. Please excuse the pics, my camera has weak batteries and I could not find any new ones. BossHog
teaser 04-28-2008, 04:01 PM Rav,
I just sent my donuts over via paypal, also sent PM's about the auction. Get back to me when you have a chance and let me know what's cooking.
How's the little girl today? Good news about the draining slowing down, that means it's healing up good. Keep up the good work your doing for her, she'll thank you for it later you'll see! Just don't let her rush it and open that back up.
Talk to you later.
teaser 04-28-2008, 04:33 PM Raven just asked me to explain how paypal works to send the funds to him so I'll post it here to make it easier for those who haven't done it before.
1. copy his paypal address and put it in the recipient name area on paypal.
2. click the service of goods button.
3. put in the amount in the box that you want to donate.
4. click the way you want the method of payment to be made from, as in paypal balance or through a credit card, etc...
5. click the send button and that's it ... payment sent.
Finatic 04-28-2008, 04:54 PM Apollo sent a pp to star. All I did was push on the keyboard. God Bless.
Gunpowder 04-28-2008, 05:02 PM I did not know where to send my reel to so I just set up my own auction in the main forum... hope no one minds. I will have the winner use paypal into Ravens account and then I will ship the reel once Raven tells me he got some cash :hihi:
mike
$25 for Raven - sorry if I came across cold

Raven 04-29-2008, 01:59 PM times two....
Star Update... we rushed her back to the hospital this morning
thinking her stitches (in the hundreds -internally too ) were not holding to well
and thought surgery # 3 was about to happen :hs:
the surgeon decided it wasn't necessary right now.
and theres no more infection ....so we bring her back
on Thursday morning at 8 am for another check up
to make sure all is well... and we got some other meds
to make her be a little more calm
because the pain killers made her
kinda speedy... we thought.
Raven 04-29-2008, 02:03 PM i went to the town hall to investigate
the laws regarding these boundary marker stakes
and or their subsequent removal...
got another plot plan copy and the surveyors name
and i'll be contacting the Governor's office too...
Raven 04-29-2008, 02:06 PM somebody pm me an addy

"recreation is not to .........wreck creation "

Gunpowder 04-29-2008, 02:20 PM and if she does.. you guys are welcome on my boat anytime :)
not that you are not already welcome..... but i was going to say the same thing :tooth:
Raven 04-29-2008, 02:32 PM as tough as i am...
ready to take on ten guys at once in a brawl
and most likely win from all the hard core rock work i've done
this whole thing has really ....
.................................................. ........
done a number on me...it feels like ....ANDRE' the giant
stomped the Sh!t out of me....to try to put it in words
and just to read those words...sure helps tremendously
to lighten the load
so to speak...
....words can't even begin to express my (our) appreciation
i have to go take a walk now...for a bit...
to breathe some fresh air
Raven 04-29-2008, 04:51 PM i shoveled up (turned over) a new raised wide row - garden bed
4 feet wide.... by 45 feet long... the soil (loam) is now 18 inches deep...and it took me 90 minutes...
i am all pumped up now like .... Arnold Swazenager YA....
He and i share the SAME birthday ya know... 7/30
ps. the Bunch of Robins out there..... just "LOVE " me
Brother Brian 04-30-2008, 08:47 AM The more I know people, the more I love dogs. PP sent.
piemma 04-30-2008, 05:06 PM Raven:
I just sent $100 on PayPal. Let me know if you don't receive it.

teaser 04-30-2008, 05:22 PM To all those interested ... Raven just sent me a PM stating he's taking Star back to the vet tonight because her wound is opening up again, for him the hole just keeps getting deeper and harder to climb out of.
He also wanted to thank all those who have cowboyed up and helped them out and hopes more will come through to help out financially as indeed the hole is getting deeper with possible surgery #3 tonight, even $5 or $10 bucks helps at this point.
Tight lines guys!
Raven 05-02-2008, 09:46 AM well we took her back to the hospital thinkin here we go.........
round three coming up
because the size of the hole or tear in her stitches had doubled when i left her alone .....to go work for just 3 hours...
but they took a long look at it and decided
to treat the area with a cell
growth promoting substance
and wrap her up tight since all signs of infection
from hitting a rusty pipe doing 40 mph
had ceased
she's resting peacefully now...
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/ravenob1/STAR/sleepingquietly.jpg
Raven 05-02-2008, 09:59 AM that is a real tiger...who wrote up the paper work for the farm
and he told me that the neighbor and i each own 50%
of that pipe together...and that it isn't !
NOT owned by anyone.
like the friggan neighbor tried to tell me...
so technically he's 50% liable for damages
not to mention a millisecond after she hit it
shes in his yard bleeding to death... :hs:
and heck.... his insurance would be paying for it anyway
and i doubt his premium would increase THAT much...
he just chooses to be a friggan total JERK is all..
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/ravenob1/rustypipe.jpg
i don't know what i'll do about him...yet.
probably have to turn him into a worm
and then take him fishin. :heybaby: lol

Raven 05-02-2008, 11:51 AM i think this guy is a big waste of my time
at this point........
i am more interested in raising public awareness
nationally about these friggan land mines
and the potential for disaster for humans and dogs
than to recoup 1/2 my losses from his
home owners insurance policy
i am hiring Jay Severin on talk radio wtkk 96.9
to help me do the JOB
and he'll help me for free
because he's a big dog person and a terrific guy
piemma 05-02-2008, 12:05 PM Hey Raven, glad the pup is doing better. Don't get in a pissing contest. Let the bastard go. These things are all regulated by Karma and "what comes around, goes around". He will get his just due.
MrHunters 05-02-2008, 12:19 PM sometimes i like to give karma a break from all the work it has to do ;)
Raven 05-02-2008, 12:30 PM Trust me.....
i don't want a
Hatfields and McCoys situation here
the town hall people already know
the whole story on how he acted
about the whole thing...
and there is no law about removing a boundary marker
... that i have found anywhere thus far...
i 'm liking your .... position and life philosophy
more and more...and everytime you write something
i am impressed... i have to say :btu:
~
ya know those flexible strips that are placed in the middle of
the road with the reflective tape on them...
a car can run over one of them
and they just pop right back up again
well personally , thats what i think
should be in the ground
not a rigid piece of rusty pipe...
the surveyor said that usually those pipes
are either 30 inches tall.. or flush to the ground
and this was neither.... and i'll not rest until i've made
every effort to see that this situation is rectified...and
not just for me... for the whole USA.... because NOW
i am a man .........on a Mission...
Raven 05-02-2008, 12:36 PM sometimes i like to give karma a break from all the work it has to do ;)
thanks for the laughter...
i needed that...
seeing star trying to sniff the ground like
a live vacume cleaner with the dog cone collar on kinda sucks
not to mention it gets hung up on everything
everywhere she goes .....when it's time to go pee pee :hs:

i got on the JAY Severin Show a few minutes ago and got my message out to the masses via radio... :btu:

i've made a difference now at preventing others from
having this happen to them
and even Jay Severin who has a place up on the north shore
said he has them all over the place... which is WHY i had to tell others.

Raven 05-05-2008, 05:03 PM she has a brand new bandage

doing fairly well... considering.http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/ravenob1/STAR/purpletuxedo.jpg
Raven 05-14-2008, 07:18 AM my neighbor actually stopped by to ask where i wanted
the grass clippings we talked about last ....thanksgiving
i need them as mulch in the garden and for compost....
he also inquired on how the dog was doing
and then apologized for the way he acted
last week... and that was unexpected...:cputin:
i parked a mini trailer over there for him to fill
up that i can haul away with the old troy built tiller.
it's time to mow....already :hs: and lots of it :lasso:
