davisd 04-27-2008, 07:17 AM Just got back Herring are just above Norris no stripers, went up to shad run no herring or shad yet. Sorry I say only a matter of days!!!
planter 04-27-2008, 08:22 AM Hit the River last noc on the drop for an hour and dragged a 15 inch monster up onto the bank using a little Yozuri Mirror.
I think there are a few fish out there but I'm looking at 10 seals on the float so the shad and bass had better be on their toes. The seals don't have a limit.......
I am trying the braids and thermal by starting with fireline. I DID not like casting it in the wind and am just not sure I think much of it yet. I am sorry to say I don't mind changing mono as needed.
You N. River guys had better be ready for the shad. I did read a report suggesting that the shad should be here already but I've never seen them much before the Shadbush blooming. It's gotta be one of our best fish for lite tackle night fishing by lantern light and more laughs than should be legal.
PS.. A Pal-O-Mine tells me he has caught a couple little fellas at Rexham at the end of the parking lot slow fishing streamers on an almost slack tide. (River side) Not sure about his report but It's the BEST place for miles to take your dog for a run and sniff while you fish. My brit just loves the place fish or not. Open to everybody for the next month than townies only.
MarshCappa 04-27-2008, 10:56 AM I'm going to try Dux bay this afternoon. I haven't caught anything in marshfield yet.
davisd 04-27-2008, 10:58 AM Thanks for the report. It was nice to just be out there. It is only going to get better. Kids back to school this week more fishing.
tinyboatbigfish 04-27-2008, 04:48 PM well boys and girls i am on my way to the river to see if i can pick up a schoolie or 2 but i will post my report when i get home in a couple hours
:soon:
planter 04-27-2008, 05:59 PM Just rolled back in from a jaunt out to the South River @ the Rexham beach parking lot It is so funny that a fishing report can get so many guys fishing the same spot.
We were gonna fish @ the mouth of the South river @ the Air Force "campground" and thats where we should have tried. Weird how we are swayed by reports that have NO merit even when we know better.
It was nice to go to the beach and think of things to come but we still have a wait ahead before things pick up. One skipper size bass last noc but no hurry to beat the North or South rivers....
onsetangler 04-27-2008, 06:29 PM Probably a week or so, fishing in and around Onset/ Wareham has been hit or miss and in my personal experience Marshfield/Duxbury has been a week or so behind. Good Luck!
Squid kids Dad 04-27-2008, 06:44 PM I went to Wareham,Bourne area today..It was a miss..Won't be for long tho
tinyboatbigfish 04-27-2008, 07:07 PM just got back from the north river not even a bite but like you guys say in a week we should all be happy at least catching the little guy but hey mabey a big boy will be in with the little guys but it is nice to think that well i will try the mouth of the town brook in plymouth this week and green harbor at night i am bound to even nail a little holdover but as the saying goes you need to put your time in to get a reward trust me i put my time in last year and it payed off alot i have 2 spots in marshfield and they never let me down eather it is a night of fun with the schooles or a night bringing 2 30inch fish home in an hour but good luck to all that try and keep on reporting it is great to have a site like this the info is very helpful to us all.:soon:
MarshCappa 04-28-2008, 09:27 AM Saw some life in Dux bay yesterday afternoon. I didn't catch anything not even a strike. My fish ear is still in tune though cuz I heard some slaps and then had a few visual confirmations of fish hitting the surface a few times. Still early but it seems to be a bit behind from last year. I'm going to scout some more with the skiff in the next couple of weeks mostly in Dux bay. Spoke to a guy on the bridge and he said small schoolies have been caught on clam necks. I can't wait for the first big push through. :eyes:
FishermanTim 04-28-2008, 11:25 AM I was down in Duxbury on Sat. afternoon for about an hour.
I didn't get an fish, but had visual confirmation that there are some herring in the bay, as well as at least one striper. I saw one decent boil close to shore after a herring broke the surface.
It's getting close, I can smell it.

Adamfishes 05-01-2008, 11:44 AM any update? Thinkin about heading down this weekend to udl:)
cardnial77 05-01-2008, 07:18 PM i find myself having trouble getting the ambition to hit the rivers this year. last year it was fun, but after bringing in a few large last fall it just dosen't seem to excite me anymore
Raven 05-01-2008, 08:41 PM your avatar rocks the kazbar
Jim Lanciani 05-27-2008, 06:56 PM I went out on Saturday 5/24 and the two of us caught 64 schoolies. The biggest one was 26" and most fish were 23-24 inches. They all were nice and fat - plenty of baitfish.
I make my own tubes. These were trolled with worms.
bluearchtop 05-30-2008, 10:20 PM Wow, that's a lot of schoolies. Where about did you catch them? I've gone out 3 times over the past week - around N River, S. River and the spit.... not a bite yet.... I am chunking mackeral and clams.... Did a little trolling w/ a spreader.... Any other suggestions ? I'm new to this area, and am looking for some hot spots around the N/S River.
Jim Lanciani 06-01-2008, 07:04 PM We trolled slowly by the docks that run along central ave (humarock) near C and D streets, and in and around the rip and the island up near the mouth - all within the south river - we also went over towards the 3A bridge (Mary's) and fished the clam beds with good results.
I see a lot of people chunking, but they don't seem to be catching much. I've tried trolling a spreader and it just catches the weeds.
I troll my own tubes with worms. Several colors. I make them such that you can tune the tube just right so it swims naturally. A real kick on a freshwater rod and reel.
Let me know if you need more info.
rjinhull 06-02-2008, 07:31 AM they should be around i got one 34" over the weekend in the boston harbor
Jim Lanciani 06-08-2008, 07:46 PM Went out again today for an hour and caught 7 striper's. 1 keeper at 29", 1 at 25" and the rest at 20".
Used my tubes (red) and worms. This time we headed down the South River heading south of the Julian Street Bridge towards route 139.
kayaman 06-09-2008, 07:40 AM tried duxbury twice last week... nothing....
MarshCappa 06-09-2008, 08:36 AM Went out again today for an hour and caught 7 striper's. 1 keeper at 29", 1 at 25" and the rest at 20".

Hey Jim, I'm glad your catching fish but try to keep the exact details of your locations toned down a little. The South River is small and crowded enough so people will get the idea that it is "on" in there. Those tubes seem to do the trick for you.:kewl:
tinyboatbigfish 06-09-2008, 04:35 PM i agree marsh you can say the south river but leav it at that dont have to say the prime loc you where catching fish it hurts the rest of the guys that fish those spots every day :agree:
Jim Lanciani 06-14-2008, 09:06 PM Another 55 striper's today on my tubes. Biggest was 31".
Jim Lanciani 06-24-2008, 07:51 PM Exactly 50 more on Saturday 6/21, biggest was 27". Most were under 20".
