What would you all like to see? :ss: The Dad Fisherman 05-01-2008, 08:34 AM North Shore Leg :hee: Saltheart 05-01-2008, 10:10 AM I would like to see member participation! :) spinncognito 05-01-2008, 10:25 AM North Shore Leg :hee: :wavey: MrHunters 05-01-2008, 11:30 AM North Shore Leg :hee: :hidin: DRUMCORPFAN 05-01-2008, 12:56 PM I like the idea of a north shore leg too, Always fun to fish new places. Rockport24 05-01-2008, 03:30 PM ok somebody has got to do the obligatory "there's no fish on the Norht Shore" comment, cause there isn't :rollem: keeperreaper 05-01-2008, 04:00 PM How 'bout a boating leg or S-B boat tourney. JohnR 05-01-2008, 04:06 PM Keep 'em coming... NorthShore Leg Boat Tourney - How & Where? More Participation? Yep zacs 05-01-2008, 06:15 PM i think boat tourney is a great idea. Maybe teams of 4, best two fish for the group. All members must be S-Bers Narr Bay would be nice, or wherever. niko 05-01-2008, 06:46 PM boat tourney sounds great. maybe a few diff legs - narr bay, ccb, boston harbor, etc... the winning teams have a fish off during the fall. bragging rights are the prize so it can be cheap. how about a catch & release thing. take measurements, a quick pic, maybe take a weight w/ a boca or rapela scale. keep it simple and have some fun. great idea boss Raider Ronnie 05-01-2008, 06:59 PM Another vote for a boat tourney :kewl: Gunpowder 05-01-2008, 11:39 PM hmm i would love to do a boat tourney. what about the guys that wanna join that a) dont have a boat in narragansett or whatever and b) dont know to many people personally on this site? do we draw for who gets to go in a boat? mike BassDawg 05-02-2008, 03:30 AM how's about a low (10 bucks) entry fee, for shore/surf and boat caught fish with the proceeds going to a charity "to be named later", and a nice plaque that recognizes the yearly winners? maybe they get a cool t sirt with S-B and a Golden Hook to signify the highest hook of the season or a baseball cap that has similar designations? what about a minimum length requirement for contending catches? Love the C&R aspect, the NShore leg, and the BBQ/Cookout sounds killer!!! the bigger question would be where to throw the BBQ? Mass or Li'l Rhody? it just hit me............a summer shindig for one and a fall cookout for the other. MBLHD in the Fall, NPT in the Summer or vice versa?? just sum ideas............what say you, gents? keeperreaper 05-02-2008, 07:22 AM I like what zacs said. Teams of 4. Boat owner plus 3 random S-Bers who want in on the tourney. Put all non boat owners names in a hat and pull to see who they fish with. 2 fish aggregate weight is a great idea. Where and when. I'd say the most central and trailer friendly area would be best. Eliot 05-02-2008, 07:55 AM I can fish 4 on Nana's Couch and could fish all legs if needed. My 32 gal live well might make it interesting......pogie.....pogie!!!! As a side note I am a member of tha Taunton Yacht Club which is in Dighton, MA on the Taunton River. The club can be rented for $125 for the day and has a large kitchen, and outdoor grill that can cook 80 steaks at one time and seating for 80+. Great spot for a party. Eliot:lm: partsjay 05-02-2008, 08:06 AM I love the ideas.....pulling the names out of a hat....thats a great idea BasicPatrick 05-02-2008, 08:13 AM I suggest we make the 4 leg shore events a bit more "detailed" and "interactive". How about the traditional evening BBQ to start and maybe a late mornig get together on the far end. I am thinkging we could meet at a breakfast joint or tackle shop at say 10 am. This gives those that can't make the evening get together or can't fish all night the opportunity to come for the dawn patrol and hook up after the fact. Also, I have felt in past years that we get off to a great start hookign up at the BBQ but then it sort of dilutes and we never get to find out who did well, what funny tales can be told...closure, yeah, I'm looking for closure (jeez!!!) I love the bring the camera idea and the boat tournament legs as well Polar Express 05-02-2008, 10:27 AM Great idea I will take 4 people that want to go. With gas prices they way there going everyone will benefit. niko 05-02-2008, 03:05 PM if i put 4 people in my boat it will sink. but we'll figure it out. anything i can do to help, sign me up. i'm looking forward to this. would they be weekend or fri/sat/sun things striperjerk1 07-03-2008, 01:53 PM This is still up in the air. luds 07-03-2008, 02:39 PM I suggest we make the 4 leg shore events a bit more "detailed" and "interactive". In the end though, it is what you want to do (within reason :hee: ) and what we can do to make it work. Like, this year we should do a North Shore Leg, Maybe later on have a Outer Beaches leg, and still a traditional fall RI & Mass leg. Mix up with a breakfast afterward. Clammer 07-03-2008, 11:10 PM personally / IMO ;; there are less & less members showing up at the legs / the 1st 1 or 2 years all the legs had a great turnout ..I even fished in one ;; but last ones I,ve gone two // & I only go to B/S , rekindle frinedships , meet new members & then usually go home .. or fish for schoolies on the way back home ;; the RI legs are now a joke .. the mass guys won,t cross the border / never mind the bridge / I think the last leg i went to at Don,s .. there was like 6 people .. I,m not driving that far for that ;; & now you want to go to the north shore & the outter cape ;; Not me >i,ll read about it in the next days post ;;;:hs: Back Beach 07-04-2008, 06:30 AM the RI legs are now a joke .. the mass guys won,t cross the border / never mind the bridge / I think the last leg i went to at Don,s .. there was like 6 people .. I,m not driving that far for that ;; & now you want to go to the north shore & the outter cape ;; Not me >i,ll read about it in the next days post ;;;:hs: Agreed. Distance is an issue for me. I usually do the Mass leg at M&D's and would definitely do a gansett area leg. Outside of that is too far. Outer cape is a lost cause fishing wise and North Shore is too far out of the way for most guys IMO. One canal area leg and one Gansett area leg would be my recommendation. Boats are cool, but very weather dependent. freebie 07-04-2008, 06:33 AM love the boat idea, and if you're gonna draw names from a hat on who gets to go with who then there could be a bbq the night before to detemine the teams etc.... bloocrab 07-04-2008, 06:46 AM ... .. the mass guys won,t cross the border / never mind the bridge / ........ Hey JOCKO!!!......the reason us mASS guys won't cross the border is because of that dam E-Verify Law. I can't chance being deported Quit trying to pass the damn Bill.......and you might have a chance to see me again:wall: JohnR 07-05-2008, 10:47 AM Hence the North Shore leg: Distance too far for some but is close for others and they've been screaming for one for a while now :tooth: basswipe 07-05-2008, 10:52 AM Carpooling to these might be a good option with the price of gas these days.I'm doing close to a $100 a week in gas right now. mikrok 07-05-2008, 11:19 AM this is open to anyone on here? i'd love to participate in my first and meet a few of you guys. work gives me plenty of paid vaca so i'm free and open towards any and all ideas striperman36 07-05-2008, 11:33 AM I'm for a boat tourney. For all those that think boat fishing is easy!! ThrowingTimber 07-05-2008, 02:23 PM Good ideas and discussions. John if you need to, get a few folks together and this stuff together I suggest taking the following approach: 1. Gathering a few folks interestered in the tourneys and having them extablish dates times etc as well as other logistics. 2. Determine any prize award or point status. 3. Have a fun time. I think its great that youre def. interested in making sure the community here is involved and by the response here you can see theres an interest, but between the site and everything else dont spread yourself too thin. Just get a few folks who make good decisions and have them plan 1 event. See how that goes and move from there, we're already in month7 4 legs at this point is pretty tough to pull off. I volunteer our place in the fall if you want to put together an RI gathering there. We're right next to the beach and if folks are interested with doing a breakfast on the sunday morning the andrea is right down the road. animal 07-05-2008, 03:32 PM How about a season-long HMS sanctioned tuna tourney?:jester: ThrowingTimber 07-06-2008, 09:16 AM You'd need a boat with a gas tank bigger than a lawn mower for that  vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
