Hooper 05-02-2008, 12:27 PM I heard the boats off Centerville have been doing poorly this year...and gas just went up by the way. fishbones 05-02-2008, 12:50 PM I heard the boats off Centerville have been doing poorly this year...and gas just went up by the way. I was down that way on Wed. and didn't see any squid boats out on the south side. I'd give it another week to 10 days for the Centerville area to get good. A couple of years ago, it was like a switch turned on overnight. RoyL 05-02-2008, 01:22 PM Im heading out tomorrow night with a few OTW guys and Ray from line Stretcher. It's a grown up fishing academy trip. I'll post how it goes...I know there were getting them during the warm spell, but I think things slowed down. macojoe 05-02-2008, 01:54 PM Thanks guys!! BigBo 05-02-2008, 02:17 PM I had squid at the "99" in Quincy today for lunch.:gu: Does that count? Gotta be cheaper than driving to Chatham to catch a few. :laugha: macojoe 05-02-2008, 03:21 PM Gotta be cheaper than driving to Chatham to catch a few. Quite you!! If I remember you are still eating the ones I gave you for free last year!! Fisherwoman 05-03-2008, 09:32 AM Got a call from a friend last weekend who went down to the docks to see where the squid boats are from the south side of the cape, the guys said they are still squidin on the back side of Nantucket so things are late for the south side, just need some warm days and things are gonna rock bigtime, alot of bait around!!!:bounce: Goose 05-04-2008, 07:43 AM seen'um thick mid-may in the past. not worth runing and gunning for $quid any more Hooper 05-05-2008, 03:38 PM macojoe, I see it's 3.59 in town now, gotta get my Schwinn tuned up!!! RoyL 05-05-2008, 05:19 PM Well it was slow on Saturday night. Wind was blowing too. Caught about 16 in an hour and half of fishing, So I would give it another week and things should really heat up. Gunpowder 05-05-2008, 05:47 PM nice shot roy... not bad for a slow night. macojoe 05-05-2008, 07:23 PM Were did you get them?? about?? the Cape, N shore ect ect ect thanks Hopper I payed $3.53 in Taunton yesterday. $3.57 here in Weirdham BasicPatrick 05-05-2008, 10:06 PM Note todays weather and tonight's mooooooooon....?I predict it goes off in teh next day or so Mr. Sandman 05-06-2008, 06:06 AM I'm gonna take a look tonight. First "fishing" of the year for me. Fishguts 05-06-2008, 10:25 AM I was out working the schoolies and decided to try jigging up a few squid, filled a quarter of a bucket in about a hour or so, strange thing, it was the middle of the day. macojoe 05-06-2008, 10:41 AM were where you in the day time?? bloocrab 05-06-2008, 04:25 PM ...... strange thing, it was the middle of the day. There's NOTHING strange about that this time of year. Schools of this size are on a mission - unless you're fishing real skinny waters, I don't even think the tide affects them much. Pt.JudeJoe 05-06-2008, 04:43 PM It is a big misunderstanding among fishermen that you need to have a coleman lantern at night catch squid. You can catch them all day long as long as you are over them. I have filled many a bucket with squid during the daytime for years. cow tamer 05-06-2008, 04:50 PM Saw a causeway full of people this afternoon. Mr. Sandman 05-07-2008, 07:50 AM :bounce: macojoe 05-07-2008, 06:12 PM Does that mean they are in Sandman?? Mr. Sandman 05-07-2008, 06:28 PM :hidin: hardcore from shore 05-07-2008, 10:51 PM Looked for squid / blues and bass this eveneing at usual south facing beach w SW wind (6 to 8PM). Caught 1st Striper of year, a 22 inch striper on one of my dad's squid knock off lures (then had line trouble) and since it was first trip out w/ new dry top I did not have my usual vest with clippers and leader material etc. had a nice walk back to car probably missed end of bite as they were gone when I got back. I consider it a shake down trip. Will not forget those items next time. Saw a few caught in another location later. It felt great to be out again. Bill Hooper 05-08-2008, 07:07 AM It's day to day off Hyannis right now, some days great, some days not so great, least that is what I was told yesterday by a charter guy who has been out a bunch this year. Saltheart 05-08-2008, 08:13 AM Macojoe , yes , that means they are here. PaulS 05-08-2008, 09:58 AM Are those eating squid or baiting squid? vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
