lets say you have a disk in the shape of a slight oval that is 14 feet the long way and 13 feel the narrow way.. you need to tile the edge of the disk.. how many tiles would you need if they were 4 inches wide?

I suck at math.. :smash:

13'=490" circumference, strech two sides 12"=24".
490"+24"=514" / 4"=128.5 tiles should be close. i add 10% for breakage if i'm cutting, i suck with tile....
even a 14' round table is 132 tiles,14'=168"X 3.1416=527"/4"=131.9

just go there and grab something
for something for your next project

hand them the measurements
before you shop...tell them "4" tile job"
'how many will i need ?
and when your ready to check out
go back to the contractors desk
and they'll have the answer for you
no -> thinking involved !

stumble on VWbrother

and while i have ya on the phone... lol
you ever seen those glass hummingbird feeders?

ahhh thanks guys. BW, good point on the breakage. What I am doing here is not really tile work, but I am bidding on a job for a chandelier that is basicly what I described above, but instead of tiles, I would be making glass pieces that will mount somewhat like tiles. Its a big job involving making bronze molds to blow the glass into- I got qoutes for the foundry work... I know how my costs on making one piece, but I was struggling on figureing out the # of pieces I would have to make..

If I get the job I'll post some Pics.. ;)

Well if you take the circumference and multiply by 4 divide by 7 and add 25364748387 you will need 4.8 million or so. Good luck Nebe :jester:
