Anyone out there care to share their experiences? tinyboatbigfish 05-19-2008, 04:11 PM i have found the berkley sea worms to work very well they look like the real thing and you dont get pinched Mako11 05-19-2008, 04:27 PM I have tried most of the fake worms I have come across and nothing comes close to GULP in my opinion. I have fished both gulp and real worms during the same fishing outting (not at the same time, used gulp once real ones ran out) and not noticed any difference in catch rate. They work really well an with the new GULP alive buckets they are much less costly than the real thing and last a whole season. I will say that my limited experience suggest that the real thing outfishes the fakes 2:1. ProfessorM 05-19-2008, 06:42 PM I second the above statement, but have friends who like the fakes. Know someone who caught a 50+ and lost a bigger one last year one nite using fakes so they do work big jay 05-19-2008, 09:34 PM I think it's like anything else, if the fish are there and on the feed, sure they'll work. But when things are slow, and you have to work for your fish-- ain't nothing like the real thing baby... That is all they get now and they stay on the tube better and last longer then natures own. You can get them in bulkl too. They don't bother with the little thin overpriced real worms anymore. On a related topic, That guy in Maine, seabait I think, was growning some nice ones and had them displayed at the mass bass show a few years ago but I guess it is not taking off because I just don't see them many shops after 6 or so years of "development". I know he sells the scents but if he could grow those bigass worms and sell them at a semi-reasonable price I think he could create a nice nitch market for himself. I am surprised that they have not become more popular. I know a couple shops carry them but most don't. DZ 05-20-2008, 06:38 AM Not applicable at this time of the season but I have a friend that tips his tubes with peanut bunker when they're available (July-November) - he does VERY well using them. DZ ProfessorM 05-20-2008, 05:56 PM Sand eels work good too. Just need to find a good bait shop and bribe the owner for the biggest worms. Tell him you will pay more for them. It works. I ask the guy from Seabait every time I see him at the shows. He didn't sound too confident they were going to be around any time soon. Last year my favorite bait shop had stellar worms . Most of the time they were bigger than the tube. IMO the tube has just as much if not more importance than the bait at the tip. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
