Im heading for block island the first week of june for a fishing trip, never been there before. How is the place that time of year? Good moon, ive got high hopes. Any info would be appreciated. Nothing specific just a general idea of things to come.

the best part of the island is all the side roads leads to the water,
I usually go end of June but the week of the 4th of July being the best spring week.

Totally ignore all the signs that say private road, no through traffic or road closed. Drink at Club Soda and always fish into the wind.

Brother Brian has just about summed it up but,I must disagree with his advise to ignore signs that say private road.Be carefull doing this. You can get away with it after tourist season but during the late spring, summer, most places will be occupied. He as been out there and knows that "private roads" are not really private property.Use discretion where you park because once you turn off that road you will probably then be on private property.Know what I mean?
go out to black rock...find a boulder that is on the tip of one of the many rocky points... wade out to it, climb on and be patient :bl:
Block Island is about 3-4 weeks behind. I've been many times - there are fish around certainly, and you may get a big one, but the the night bite for bigger fish really is not consistant like it is after the third week of June. Fish there like you would on the mainland the second week of May. Squid and sand eels are the primary baits.

Rob,
You should do fine that week if you get decent weather and you know what you're doing (assuming you're not a beginning surf caster). A spring Noreaster can screw things up. If the weather is warm you should have big June Bugs buzzing you at dusk. Caught many a bass out there in early June with those bugs landing on my head - god I love that place. Good luck and PM me a report.
