Don't you love teaching tech support how to do their own job ! Rather than fixing the problem they follow procedure(the long way around)! Sucks....Waiting for the phone you can reach through and slap the person on the other end to come out.Is it the other way around and the person on the other end doesn't know what a reboot is ?

She sounded kinda saucy though and being an "Ambassador to our Country" I valiantly tried to stay polite. I've been pretty fortunate that even in my overseas support calls they have been pretty good, this was the worst in a long time. She was pleasantly absent minded and incompetent... Overall though, I think I got dumber after that phone call. I can honestly feel that I am less intelligent now that I was 90 minutes ago

Can I take a guess...Computer Associates? I've had some doosies with them. Support has gone way downhill all over, but they are the worst I have dealt with. I remember the old days (mid 90's) I had some calls with one of the companies they later bought out. I had like 4 really deep debug screens going with this one tech guy who really knew the product. We got to the bottom of it. You don't find that type of support anymore.

I stopped dealing with CA years ago. No, this was one of the top AV vendors but I know what you mean.

I've had a lot of good dealings with Cisco support on the sub-continent, but todays (not Cisco)was the worst in a long time...

But all this is to make our vendors more efficient!!!
Did you tell her to just read the script and not make stuff up?:soon:

Clarification - it was not Cisco. My point was that my Cisco experiences on the Sub-Continent were at worst OK and generally good to excellent. This Vendor That Will Remain Nameless was both in the class of McAfee. I hope the trend does not continue to worsen :tooth:

Part of the problem was I couldn't understand what she was saying as she read the script, and the script kept going offline, which caused a lot of "I'm Sorry's" and "please waits", though it sounded cute when she said it... 45 minutes of that after the 45 minutes I spent on ignore listening to really bad music over a really bad connection
