View Full Version : Simms waders
anyone here use the simms rivershed waders?
Ive used the ll bean wicked tough waders for years, but I am tired of the quality issues.
spence 06-09-2008, 05:28 PM No, but I did suck it up and get the G3's which I love. I happened across a San Francisco fly fishing shop that had my size at 33% off :bounce:

slow eddie 06-09-2008, 05:51 PM i've been using a used pair of stocking foot ones i picked up at a yard sale. love them. stylish also.
Pete F. 06-09-2008, 05:52 PM buy two pair of beans emergers, then when they leak you can send one pair back with no down time. I've never had them leak out of the box but my brother has had the more expensive ones be leakers first try.

cheferson 06-09-2008, 11:43 PM The wicked tough waders suck. I went through 3 pairs last season, maybe 2 the year before. I got the g3's this year and love them so far, but it has only been 2 months......
FishHawk 06-10-2008, 04:50 AM I have the Simms L2 and so far so good. Can't see spend close to 400 for waders. FishHawk.
RickBomba 06-10-2008, 05:16 AM Had the g3's for three years..pound on them. No leaks
numbskull 06-10-2008, 05:50 AM I have the G3's in stocking foot and the Rivershed in bootfoot. I like them both, although the Riversheds have had a small leak from day 1 that eventually I'll send back to get corrected. I also find the G3's to be more comfortable because of the shaped knee and side seams. The Riversheds have a peculiar seam on the front of the leg, no abrasion protection on the butt, and no handwarmer pocket on the chest (which I don't use). For rocks definitely go with the G3's in stocking foot, for sand if doing it again I'd just get the L2's with the boot foot option and plan on patching any hook/spine holes that develop.

The G3's certainly are cut very well, although they do assume you're a granola eating regular aerobic sort of yuppie, or are at least blessed with a decent figure.
I'm not sure if Nebe could squeeze into a pair :gu: :hihi:

I'm in this club, I get the Hodgman bootfoots on sale for about $50 at S.A. on their sale plus a coupon and get three of these every 2 years. If one craps out while still under warranty I get a replacement. It's kinda like cheaply renting waders...

Yeah - same here for my neoprenes - although I didn't give much thought to the warranty and mine are slow leaking now ... :hs: My other Hodgeman's were more expensive - close to 200 and I scraped them up on the rocks last fall while I was sleepy and trying to get off a big boulder, scratched the heck out of the seat and they now leak ... covered them up with aquaseal, working so far. But would rather have them replaced, althought I caused the problem, any one know if Hodgeman would replace a pair like that?
