Does anyone have any preferences about rod finish. I have had some experiences with FlexCoat where the finish will turn milky white if the finished rod is left out in the rain. I do fish in the rain. It doesn't fall apart but does detract from the aesthetics. I have a couple of rods that i built 2 years ago that suffer from this condition.

Are my experiences unique?

If you prefer something else, why and where can I get it in the SE Mass area?

Thank you

I stoped using and selling flex coat for the same reasons milky finish when wet.
I started using U-40 and AMTAK good finish levels out ,little or no problem with bubbles.

If your finish is turning milky it probably is'nt cured (a bad mix maybe) or it leaked and water got underneath it. I've used a lot of Flexcoat on s.w. rods and when you get the mix right it's a real durable finish- my biggest problem with it has allways been micro bubbles that I can't see till it's in strong sunlight. Wish I could finish outside.

The rods in question just finished their 2nd full season fishing. they never seemed tacky so I am sure they are cured. I built three rod for myself, and repaired two other rods that all share this problem Unfortuantely I also built several rods for friends that suffer the same problem. I had been using two batches of Flexcoat, one purchased locally and one purchased mailorder. Rods finished with both batches and finished over a 6 month period have the same isues. I will try waxing them to see if that wii seal the moisture out.
