Saltwater Fishing License requirements is coming to Maine and other states. The Federal Government wants to track the game fish numbers caught including Striper's. Either the state developers some kind of program or the Feds will.

I lived in Maryland for 7 years. We were required to purchase a Saltwater Fishing License to fish the Chesapeake Bay or tidal Potomac River or we had the option to purchase a Fishing License for the Boat. This meant that anyone on board my boat could fish license free if I purchased this boat fishing license, $40. This was great and popular. I could take anyone out fishing, visiting family, the occasional fisherman neighbor, without the worry about a Fishing License. My boat is a small private, non-commercial boat. My only requirement was to keep a log on all keepers caught, date, size and location of catch and report this to the State Natural Resources Department. Catch and Release were not included.

This was a great program and I'd like to see it adopted in Maine.

I would like to see a small fee added to my fresh water license that would be fine but paying double for doing the same except in saltwater is crazy IMO
