I have one 50- a 51 pounder from the surf in RI, but I am more proud of the 58 forty pounders I've caught in the surf since 1973!

Man, you must be realy bored. Take a day off and go fishing, money isan't everything and you end up reliving the past like this.

My grandfather has two canal 50's....(and one cutty 50) Gonna be awhile before I can beat that.. He likes to remind me of that when I bring my "little" fish home....

I got a 50 in the canal this year, I had to add 4 fishes weights together to get it though. :wavey:

Keep in mind the reward is in the journey, not the destination reached.
It dulls the pain.

40 years in the surf. Never caught a 50. 3 years in the boat. Never got a 50.
Got over 100, 40+ but no 50. Do I care? Not really.

I got one last year. Does it mean alot? Not really. Is it an accomplishment. Certainly.

No Fifties here...

A bunch of forties from a boat (best=46# 8oz)

A bunch of thirties from shore (best 36#)

I'm still looking to break #30 from shore. Each year I have a new goal and surprisingly have reached it sometimes not as fast as I wish I could but eventually.

I'll try for the next rung on the ladder (30#) but if I skip a few and get a # 50 out of nowwhere that would be fine by me :tooth:

am hoping to be able to speak from experience
BEFORE this season closes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

am still trying to break 40 from the surf, since
i broke 30 last year, in only my second season.

does that make me special, NOOO! just trying to
climb the ladder of accomplishments, and ~you seee~
i gotts this SPOT............. where i know sum BIG GURLS

are hiding and waiting for me to stick 'em in thier
maws with a 7/0 Gami, attached to an eeeeeel or
the head half of a fresh adult bunkah :kewl: :kewl:!!

like it or not, having been there or not, YES a 50lber
is a benchmark of sorts, and why most of us would
give both kazoos to join that elite club :bl: :bl: :bl:

especially so, if done from the surf. since we ALL know.........
