Thats the problem with this time of year. Storms pop up quick. Be safe. JohnR 06-24-2008, 12:14 PM :uhoh: I hope our S-B pogie fleet is off the water by now! :bl: That's my thought exactly... We have a strike guard system and its top shelf. Well worth the investment. All we need to do is add the sirens and it will be fully automated. Any lighning with 5 miles of the property and it goes off until the all clear function disables the sirens. likwid 06-24-2008, 01:56 PM LIGHT THUNDERSTORMS MY ASS that one came down less than a 1/4 mile from the house. :fury: striperman36 06-24-2008, 02:04 PM That's the next step. Was out in Prov. River in the r/v. Rode the storm out at Save the Bay and made a break for it after it passed. made it back to GBay just ahead of the back-edge of it. serious wind, G50-60kt and 4-5ft rollers up the river around fields point. yuck. Boat took a beating at the dock, but otherwise unscathed. One of the quahogers got struck and fried his boat/motor. He's fine, but his engine is shot. RIROCKHOUND 06-24-2008, 03:54 PM LIGHT THUNDERSTORMS MY ASS that one came down less than a 1/4 mile from the house. :fury: That was the forecast. Saltheart 06-24-2008, 08:50 PM I have seen some great light shows by anchoring off Barrington beach and watching the storms pound Providence. Its like watching lightning at the movies. Instead of just a big flash , you get to see the whole lightning bolt. While they do develop fast , you can usually see them coming very easily. BlackBeard 06-24-2008, 09:23 PM I heard something about a guy down in Bristol, got struck by lightning out on a jetty. Anybody else hear that? likwid 06-24-2008, 10:08 PM I heard something about a guy down in Bristol, got struck by lightning out on a jetty. Anybody else hear that? Why you would stay on a jetty during a thunderstorm is beyond me. Darwin candidate. Mike P 06-25-2008, 02:25 PM Why you would stay on a jetty during a thunderstorm is beyond me. Darwin candidate. Depending on how long the jetty is, you might have a better shot hunkered down in the rocks than trying to walk in. If I was out on the end of the Scussett jetty, I probably couldn't get in before a fast moving cell closed in on me. I probably wouldn't be out there in the first place when storms were forecast, but lots of guys don't check the online weather, or know what the warning signs in the sky look like. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
