Reason #458 why It's good to fish w/a partner. Would have sucked if soemone wasn't there to remove plug attached.
View Full Version : OK Kids... Don't try this at home. JFigliuolo 06-26-2008, 11:47 AM Reason #458 why It's good to fish w/a partner. Would have sucked if soemone wasn't there to remove plug attached. fishbones 06-26-2008, 11:52 AM Ouch! Is the band-aid on your index finger unrelated, or did you just not learn your lesson the first time? HESH2 06-26-2008, 11:52 AM hoping it was barbless, pulled 1 barbless treble out of friends finger monday. InTheHole 06-26-2008, 11:52 AM Ouch!! That hurts just looking at it, gettin it out must have been fun JFigliuolo 06-26-2008, 11:55 AM Not my hand... I did the unbuckling. ( I did bury one in the back of my hand over the winter. Partner had to be better and stick his on a fish.) Nope. Full compliment of barbs. Grapenuts 06-26-2008, 11:58 AM it's alot more fun when their in the top of your head and you have to get it out by feel....a case of the no seeums. Bronko 06-26-2008, 12:04 PM That sucks, I have done it a couple of times. Occupational hazard. :fury::fury: EarnedStripes44 06-26-2008, 12:07 PM yikes. Can't say that has happened to me. Rockport24 06-26-2008, 12:08 PM I did that once last year (not that bad tho) and now if I fish plugs with multiple trebles I ALWAYS have a lip gripper on me to avoid it ever happening again. It just takes that one twich from the fish to bury a treble in your hand! eastendlu 06-26-2008, 12:12 PM I have done that a few times but not a problem as all my barbs are crushed.Just grit teeth and pull and then that sigh of relief then make another cast. Squibby17 06-26-2008, 01:01 PM Ouch. I'm going to invest in a boca grip pronto likwid 06-26-2008, 01:40 PM Thats quite the hook set. dar3 06-26-2008, 03:38 PM That hand looks familiar I think I saw it in a few lips of some fish this year. That sucks gotta hurt bad.Oh yeh he said it hurt I forgot> D3 RoyL 06-26-2008, 03:56 PM ouch, I have done it twice and both times it wasn't nice...hope it feels better by now Diamondwrapper 06-26-2008, 04:22 PM Ooooooh ! My onions just schriviled up. likwid 06-26-2008, 04:37 PM So, nobody asked, was it a keeper? mrstriper 06-26-2008, 04:38 PM twice this year...barbless from now on!!!!! pull it out and keep fishin' jimmy z 06-26-2008, 06:42 PM Been there, my friend. Mine didn't hurt abit. 4X VMC treble. The Dr. in the emergency room, had dikes that couldn't cut it. They had to call someone from engineering to cut it with a Dremel. Rob Rockcrawler 06-26-2008, 06:44 PM i can feel the throb just lookin at that. ouch In The Surf 06-26-2008, 06:55 PM Ouch! Jay's hand? BassDawg 06-26-2008, 07:02 PM sorry about yer mishap! been there with fresh water trebles, thank GOD!! could not imagine the havoc a VMC can wreak. heal swiftly, bro, and get back out there............ shadow 06-26-2008, 07:09 PM Ouch! Jay's hand?yes dave my hand. E.R visit at 6am before work is better then a cup of coffee to start the day.still hurts vics are not even helping In The Surf 06-26-2008, 07:42 PM Hang in there Jay. Hand should feel fine in a day or so and you'll be fishing at some point this weekend. Been there myself. Gibb's 3 oz bottle plug 2 out of 3 sets of trebles found their way into my hand. 3 barbs in all, 1 through and through and 2 buried (which I pushed through so I cut). About a 12#er thrashing on the other end but enough to make me nearly white out. I was alone which really sucked. Released the fish, walked a couple hundred yards to my vehicle, cut the hooks with a set of lineman's, splashed on some hand sanitizer (that really hurt), walked back to the water and soaked my hand for a moment and fished another hour or so. Later on the Dr. Feel Goods needed a shot or two of Yukon and a few Newcastles to help keep the hand from reminding me of what happened. :smash: Flaptail 06-26-2008, 07:46 PM Why anyone does not crush thier barbs is beyond me. They penetrate better and if you are experienced playing any fish you won't lose them. Accident waiting to happen, as this clearly shows by not crunching the barbs. All kinds of infections the longer that hook was imbedded never mind the tendon and nerve damage. Jenn 06-26-2008, 07:56 PM having flashbacks.... Did the same thing to the thumb only it went into the joint...:yak4: fully barbs (duh) GonnaCatchABig1 06-26-2008, 08:05 PM :smash: i wish i hadnt seen that. while removing some rusty hooks from a gibbs danny (no rings on them. grrr) the eye snapped and took a rusty hook to the finger. it's barely a wound and i thought that hurt like hell. been poked a billion times nothing ever got past the barb. i think the day one does and looks like that, i'll go into shock. cause i'm a sissy. Saltheart 06-26-2008, 09:25 PM Oh that hurts just looking at it! BxBomber 06-27-2008, 11:49 PM Note To Self: Get a good set of cutters, and a 5th of Cutty for the tackle bag. What a pal, while your in pain your fishing buddy (aka the paparazzi) is snappin pics. Geez afterhours 06-28-2008, 06:33 AM I have done that a few times but not a problem as all my barbs are crushed.Just grit teeth and pull and then that sigh of relief then make another cast. same. kayaman 06-28-2008, 02:13 PM only time I had to have a doc remove a hook was very similar to that... walking up some rocks with rod and plug in hand.... slipped and landed on said hand holding plug.... had to drive to hospital with a 10 in. bomber attached... standard truck to boot.....:kewl: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
