Wrong! Why because his hitting is poor of late? He is invaluable behind the plate! Without Varitek the pitching staff would tank! Guarantee!

Well....Varitek doesn't pitch so he can't throw for them! And before you bust out the fact that he whiffed to end the game with men on.....that pitch was a ball breaker!!! Nobody could have hit that! It was on the inside bottom corner....he would have swung right thru it if the bat left his shoulder!

Who you going to put in there Ron? Granted he isn't hitting his weight but he does other things that are needed.

Hopefully he will get 3 days rest over the All Star break. He's pressing and needs a couple days off.

It's time for this guy to sit down. So far today and it is only the 6th inning , he did not block the plate allowing a run to score, could not throw out a runner, had a passed ball, and is 0 for 2 at the plate.:af:

Man bases loaded no outs and they can't get a run in. WTF. 3 guys can't hit a fly to the outfield. Very disappointing. I would have tried 3 straight squeeze plays for gods sake.

I kind of agree they should have mixed it up there at the end...bases loaded and it only takes one run to tie the game.

But Jason is huge regardless of his batting.

Giambi should have been out by 20 feet on that play :hs:

Why the hell do you need to go 6' up the first base line to take a throw that comes in from about 50' behind the second baseman

I don't know what you Sox fans see in this guy
