The Iceman 6

Was on the outer cape for the last 10 days. Had the privilege of fishing with Back Beach Jake, Rappin Mikey, Marky (posts up randomly, likes talking better in person), and Dr. Eric (he’s a lurker here and is going to join). Was scheduled to fish with l.i.fish.in.vt but had to cancel with him because I was too shot that night (definitely next time). That is my one and only regret. Saw John pretty much every day though. Fishing was good but you had to walk to find them. One spot in particular was very good to me (thanks Eric).
Primary fishing eels 95% of the time, I really didn’t know what a plug ho was, but I certainly became one. Fred gave me a sweet pencil popper that he made, Mikey gave me a “Canal Special” (be sure you say it right), and another unnamed Pencil Popper of a fellow board member here. Mark gave me a sweet Needlefish plug that has produced for him time and time again. I even hoed a nice swimmer that Backbeach Jake gave Mark (I think it cost me an IPA Six Pack, can’t wait to throw that in a breachway Fred). From there, I hoed a couple of needle’s from Hesh2 during a stay over in CT. I’m a BIG needle fan. Dr. Eric turned me on to a plug I never would of though in a million years that it would catch fish. It certainly did! It was great fishing and hanging out with everyone. If I knew, that just by hanging out, fishing, and having a couple of cold one’s with fellow surfcasters would get you free plugs for no rational reason that I can comprehend, I would of become a ho a long time ago. Thanks guys!
Some highlights: After fishing Race Point with eels all night on the new moon and not getting 1 hit, sunrise comes and I’m walking down the beach and I see this guy who I instantly recognize as a Bomba. I didn’t know which one at this point? I go, “what’s up Bomba, I’m Iceman6.” Next thing you know I’m drinking Twisted Teas with Mikey on the long walk back to the vehicles where we proceeded to have several more cocktails. Then, I’m watching fireworks with him on the 4th of July @ his Uncle’s house on the water. Then, Mikey is swimming in my hotel pool everyday. Mark was kind enough to let me use his kayak, so one morning Mikey and I headed out. All I had to do was jump in and paddle away. Mark’s the type of guy who get’s more pleasure when you catch a fish. Second cast, I hooked into a monster which brought me on a nice 5 minute sleigh-ride. Rinse and repeat the process. Sleigh-rides are freakin’ fun! Mental note to self: “buy a kayak.” Mikey and I had a productive morning, we didn’t kill them every cast but it was certainly a respectable sunrise session. Fred was doing a lot of work on his house when he was there, but every time I called him which was pretty much every day, he brought me out fishing and gave me invaluable knowledge of the lay of the sand. Fred even brought me out for my last sunrise session the morning I left. All my gear was packed up of course, but I had to get out there one more time and smell that fresh air and be in that pristine crystal clear water that the Cape offers. One morning after fishing, Fred, Mikey, and Mark ended up on my hotel deck s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g down some cold brews @ 8 in the morning. The next thing you know, Bomba is doing back-flips and belly-flops into the hotel pool. Mark actually leaves and comes back with his daughters 1 hour later for some more pool fun and antics.
It was a great vacation. My wife and daughters had a blast. We hit Head of the Meadow, Herring Cove, High Head, Marconi, Cornhill, and Coast Guard beaches + the pool everyday, a whale watch, the show in P-Town, and a Pirate Cruise. For those with kids, definitely check out the Pirate Cruise in P-Town. My daughter’s are still taking about it. I got to fish every day, it was all good – and if you don’t know now you know. Attached, are some pictures of the trip. Will be back in October for a wedding, Fred is probably changing his number as we speak. Next year, I wanna look you @ Flap. I promise I’ll only fish plugs J.
I Remain,
